Waded through this thread http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=18580&highlight=banger+power but it wasn't what I was hoping for. Got a little dizzy wading through the import stuff and references to Quad 4s as "bangers." Anybody chime in with some real banger or early 4-cylinder power and mileage numbers? I've got a Willys GoDevil 134 that's bored and decked, head worked, reground cam, etc. Makes probably 75hp and gobs of torque under 3,000rpm. Figure it'd make a decent Track T powerplant with a later 5-speed adapted to it, but it's an ugly sumbitch and sort of looks like a Pez candy if you squint your eyes. Interested to see what other folks are running so I talk myself out of using this pile.
I have no idea how much power or what is the mileage of a Willys 4, but I did do some work on one for a friend of mine and don't think his is ugly. Here is a picture of the valve cover I made with the Kaiser "Supersonic" head and the stock intake turned upside down and the exhaust hot spot opened up for a larger two barrel or what ever.
