Some VERY sad news

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by safariknut, Jun 24, 2004.

  1. Had a good friend from M***achusetts call me this afternoon with some very bad news.I'm posting this here because I know a lot of people on this board attended the GoodGuys Indy show a couple weeks ago and I'm hoping they might have some info on what happened.
My good friend Bob Ellison was competing in the G***er races with his 33(?) Willys that he's raced since the early 70's.Apparently he a brake caliper hang up and cause him to crash.I guess they had to cut him out of the car and he was transported to the hospital and listed in critical condition.
He was improving and they had upgraded his condition when Sunday night he had a heart attack. He is now on life support and is not expected to survive.
My friend was hesitant to call because it seems like every time we speak it's in regard to another friend we have lost.
My purpose in writing this is to find out if anyone on the board saw what happened and could supply me with info.If you did, please send me a PM as I really don't want to take up space with this. Thanks in advance.

Sorry to hear it man. I just fired an e-mail to my brother who is pretty tight with some GoodGuys cats to try and get some info. Seems like you are pretty well informed though. Perhaps you can PM JimA. I wish Mr. Ellison well.

  5. Man, with all the bad news we've heard this past week, it makes you wonder how nice is this world. It does make a difference with car folk, however. I have made more friends through dispair in the car community than I could have ever anywhere else.

You and yours are in my thoughts as well.

    Take care and good luck,
    Reverend Jake

Sorry to hear. I just saw him up at epping a few weeks ago testing out the car. Looked great with the new paint. Hope all is well.

He and my boss (Bob Schneider) went out there together. As far as we know, it was the caliper that failed. That's what Bob said and he was right there.

I'm awaiting word as to whether he's been pulled off life support or not. As of 5:00 this afternoon, Bob hadn't spoken w/ Shirley or Donna.

this story hits home hard because my best friend was killed in a similar way in Jan of this year... life is fragile so tell everyone you love em... keep your head up there... we are thinking of you.
