Pull all the heads off any 69-72 Lincoln 429 or 460 motors. They're worth more than the rest of the cars. Dan
I hope someone does... shit. That's history right there to me, and to think it's going to all be crushed just fucking pisses me off... stuff like that isn't replacable!
I don't believe it... This guy only just found out he had to get rid of all that "scrap metal"? Or has he been stubbornly holding out to some "This stuff is worth a lot of money!" fantasy of "colector car" prices on the junk until now? Any junk yard business that has that many cars only has them because they have ALWAYS been overpriced, and under these circumstances still are. There was a cheap carpet store near here that used to have a "Company Liquidation Sale" in their window.... for YEARS! I bet he's still there a decade from now.
I agree Doc, I once went to look at a '53 Stude coupe body. No good glass no running gear and no hood. I was thinking $2-300 tops. Guy want's $1500. Says if he cant get that he'll just crush it. I politely tell him A. If he really thinks it's worth that he wont crush it. B. If he does think it's worth that and still crushes it he's a morron. Six years later I passed it over at his auction for $550. People WILL play on our emotions if they think there is a buck in it.
There is a guy on this side of town that does that kind of crap....wants too much for the parts...when he finds that nobody wants to pay for the parts on the car....he just crushes the cars....I don't get it. We say well if you are going to crush them....give us a call and we'll give you what you get for the scrap and you can keep the car...he says "then you'll wait form me to get to the point where I'm right about to crush them to buy parts from them"....Which is probably right...but only because the prices are too high to begin with. I loved the part about being there all day Sunday " ACCEPT WHEN I'M AT CHURCH". There may be a God but there sure as hell ain't no crusher.
bought some Packard taillights from this guy last month and he was pretty straight up. Actually did it outside of e bay (his price was so reasonable it was worth the chance of gettin' ripped off)if you can believe that. Well I recently e mailed him asking if he'd sell some sheetmetal sections off a 54 before I saw his ebay posting. Ironically, he responded to me early last evening and said he was trying to get a sawzall and generator up there and he'd cut me off anything I wanted. I don't really don't know his story and his ebay description sure sounds desperate, but if anyone ventures down there I'd still like to get those sheetmetal sections, keep me in mind, they're small
