I have a 41 Ford pick up and am planning on putting a 39 Ford opening wind shield in there with a 40 Ford coupe dash. Has anyone done this, if so any pics or advice? As I am about to do this. Or, I know loads of people have put 40 coupe dashes in there, but has anyone put it in a 39 pick up? If so, any pics? How did you get on with it? I would like to see how it fits together to have the 40 coupe dash with the 39 windscreen, to see how the cranking mechanism and the garnish moulds fit.
The way a '40 dash curves down, I doubt you will get the cranking mech to fit in there. Plus, you'd have to cut a whole in that beautiful dash to make it happen. You also have to add supports for the hinges. Wait and see what the other guys think but I'm sure I wouldn't do it. Tim
I combine '33 - '36 car and '40 car dashes, [pic]... you could combine your '39 truck and a '40 car the same way.... I do this so the dash can be mounted a little easier... I have the roof and posts to a '39 truck, rusty cowl top... free if you "swim" over and get them...
The factory did it. The cab I'm using for my project has hinge and arm attachment points. It is later than 1941. Im told it is a military cab. Definitely was on a HD truck like a dump or bobtail given the transmission tag on the dash, round gauge holes and the screen mounts around the rear window.
