Someone want to explain dry sump?

    Won't work - still needs gravity to drain the oil into the sump.

    1st use of dry sumps is probably before WW1, many GP race cars since the 1920s.

    Dry sump doesn't necessarily produce any more power than wet. The extra gears, line loss, higher pressure etc. are all parasitic losses.
    A test stand wet pan with the sump 12" below the crank will produce more power - you just can't put it on a car.

    Your right, dry sump was used on M/Cs and race cars waaay back. For one example, here's a Riley B block conversion with dry sump from the 30s. http://www.1933fordrileyracecar.com/autoracingrestoration.htm
