Quarter is quite clobbered but it will conform to my needs! I got some patches to help straighten it out 1477869879928.jpg 1477869893799.jpg 1477869899234.jpg still more to do but I need beer so more later

I am hesitant to post this cause I am embarrassed. . . I messed up. Mike Bowling told me a hundred times to put the patch on while the quarter is on the car. I learn best the second time around. 1478219996513.jpg 1478220007063.jpg 1478220035403.jpg

In case you can't see, I put the patch on crooked-3/4 inch crooked! So I zipped it and tacked it back on. On a good note I found a banged up but unused flattie radiator for $100 1478220296358.jpg

A lot of people don't know to use one. A friend has one in his shop for customers to use and they just look at it and try to push the numbers. It's fun to watch

I like this a lot... very rewarding turning scrounged parts into a hot rod. I'm doing a similar thing to get my 32 on the road.

A very educational thread. Low budget reminds me of what my mother always said, "Necessity is the Mother of Invention". She's the reason I turned out this way.

Are you tired of seeing my drivers quarter? I am! I was very nervous cutting this part cause I don't want to lose the shape. It has a small wave in the bottom but I know a guy. . . 1478389722678.jpg 1478389756194.jpg 1478389770623.jpg 1478389785610.jpg 1478389801426.jpg 1478389810009.jpg 1478389823264.jpg 1478389831380.jpg

That red patch was a piece of a sedan quarter. The leading edge had the right curve after I cut the top and bottom off.

Great job so far. Nice to see you are saving the original metal instead of buying aftermarket junk!

Thanx gmc, almost all the sheet metal is original. The drivers door inner panel, the quarter patches, and the panel above the trunk are repops. The panel below the trunk will also be new, but everything else is 87-88yrs old!

  22. If you get stuck, keep in mind I got a shrinker/stretcher in my shop!

Glad those sedan pieces came in handy!

Thanx Pat, those sedan pieces are the most solid orginal sheet metal parts on this "thing". I have a shrinker/stretcher and I am using it thanx, Ron.

I wish I had more time to work on this. Seems like sooooo much to do. Fellow Camsnapper Bruce hooked me up with a Ridge reamer. What a great tool. Worked pissah. 1479089500945.jpg

I fabbed up "b" post feet and rear body mounts. The feet are 1/8th" plate. I am going to attach 1x1 square to it this week. The mounts are 1.5x1.5 square hacked up and hockey pucks tuned up w/a 2" hole saw. I had the quarters on and off 50 times in the last two days 1479089968633.jpg 1479089976401.jpg 1479089997008.jpg 1479090006581.jpg 1479090013781.jpg

I scored some pieces of 1x1 square from the scrap bin at the power plant awhile back, hacked it up a bit and now it will support the front of the never-ending quarter panel. 1479262495632.jpg

I tacked it in place and fit the quarter. . . . Again. Still need to fine tune it. And I think I need to make new feet too. Second time Wtf! 1479262722119.jpg 1479262729026.jpg
