Well, as you know with these old cars. . . .
I was showing my friend how I got it running, all proud and stuff. He says " ya know your water pump is seized"
Seriously!!! So I ordered a pair from Dennis Carpenter and the delivery is supposed to be mid week. I pushed it out to clean so here's a couple pictures 20220703_165821.jpg 20220703_165336.jpg 20220703_165301.jpg

Seriously, what's up with that fan? Are you actually running it, does it move any air? Did you balance it with one of those things you use to balance a lawnmower blade or?

@Squablow 1-yes, 2-so far it hasn't overheated, and 3- no, it is not balanced.
I need to come up with something though because I plan on putting some miles on this

I went out for my first test drive Tuesday night. I made it 3/4's around the block and blew up the tranny. Tonight I got it out. I have a spare but it needs some love, it's been dry for a very long time. 20220721_173125.jpg 20220721_173147.jpg 20220721_182427.jpg 20220721_193707.jpg 20220721_215655.jpg

Whilst pulling said transmission I noticed the case was split from top loader flange up to engine flange and throw out bearing collar was cracked. My engine is stock. . .maybe 85hp. . . Yes, I drive it abit hard but I am kinda shocked that it came apart that bad. Is this normal?

  13. Man, I bet that transmission had a lot of strain put through it long before you got it. You don't really know what was done with it in the 80 years before you got it. I bet if you magnafluxed all of it before you ran it you'd have seen cracks so don't beat yourself up.

Got it back together and it goes through all the gears so I feel pretty good about that. Still a few things to sort out but at least it's running!! 20220726_193806.jpg

After fooling with the timing abit, I made it around the block. This transmission is WAY better than the old one. Smoother shifts, no noise, and it doesn't pop out of gear. Got a call into a guy who has a SUN distributor machine, I'mhopingtogetthis tuned right beforePTJ 20220728_182549.jpg

Well, the old girl stayed together and ran consistently all weekend at Winterport. I pulled out the toolbox once to adjust the clutch and that's it!! Feels good man

    Ron,

I love this build. Great job making it happen with a bunch of parts.

Hauled the Snappah up to the Jalopy Hillclimb in Campton, NH yesterday. This little event is the most fun you can have in your hot rod. Lots of cool cars and trucks, great people, awesome track up to a tremendous view. 20221022_114048.jpg 20221022_104457.jpg 20221022_111339.jpg

Well, it's that time of year again, racecar time!! Heading up to Maine for the inaugural New England Vintage Drags at Oxford, Me.
This time I am ready (knock wood) the car runs, drives, and stops as it should. Starts easily and idles all day. So I decided to fix a few things that I have neglected to do in the past. I finally ground down the welds on the windshield posts. 20230522_181138.jpg 20230522_183826.jpg

This is one of my favorite threads on the H.A.M.B. The car has so much character, and I love how it's 100 percent homebuilt. Keep up the great work!

P.S. What type of paint did you use? I'm hoping for a similar finish on my car.

Hey @J.Ukrop, I used tractor paint right out of the can. Brushed on of course.
Joey, thanks for the kind words.

Lettering credit to Chainay, very happy with the results. He'll need to add more later this year as we pile on the events
