    Your roadster is lookin good!
Raced my Shoebox at Winterport 22, Vintage Drags 23, then down to Fall Out in Glastonbury in Oct. 23.
Sure I will bump into you at some point. Lots of nice folks at the events.

Fabbed and tinkered the throttle linkage.
Worked a few times then it broke. My weld on the pedal shaft let go and front carb shaft concentric snapped at the same time. That was yesterday.
Today I cleaned and re-welded the shaft and it broke too. I have a spare Model A throttle set up so I cut it up, made the return spring work with my custom set up, and soon I will clock and attach the pedal. I shimmed, moved, drilled, and pinned the front carb thing so fingers crossed that will work smoothly now. 20240407_185850.jpg 20240407_190548.jpg 20240407_195235.jpg 20240407_195256.jpg 20240407_194026.jpg 20240407_200908.jpg
I also cut up some exhaust and made an oil fill 20240407_200815.jpg

@wheeldog57 Cool car and fun thread that I discovered tonight!. Gear Drive (lakeheaders.com) has cast aluminum offset breather tube that looks a lot better than old rusty exhaust tube.... Otherwise lookin good!

Math is not my strong suit so I'm looking for some help calculating displacement on my new flathead.
    1950 Ford big truck 8BA
    3.1875x3.75=239ci
Now bored .100=23.9 more which makes
262.9ci yes? No because 239 is bore and stroke. I was told it's 255 but I'm sure someone here knows how to calculate.
    Thanks in advance

Thanks guys! Really looking forward to hearing this motor. I've gotten quite a bit done. I check tasks off the list but create more tasks every night. Ignition wires are from a former Camsnapper Dick Edgerly
He was a local circle track driver and a lot of fun to be around. 20240414_201459.jpg 20240414_201515.jpg

Draped some pleather, unsure about the color. Does it clash or look ok? I have enough to do the whole interior. 20240414_205558.jpg 20240414_210050.jpg

Here’s the formula if you want to figure it out the HAMB way, traditionally!

Been fiddling with the motor for the last few nights, put a known good distributor in and BAM! It lit right off! Sounds tough too 20240425_175951.jpg

  12. I ran into this with my Offy intake as well. I ended up clocking the whole works to the passenger side. I have not yet found any reference as to why Offenhauser did their intakes like that.

I would imagine you're at about 270 cid there. Did you opt for EAB heads over the aluminum ones? I'm running EABs too. My block and the heads got surfaced. I'm running an Offy triple with two 97s & an 81 for primary with the 3.75 crank 0.030 over. It makes good noise. I have the linkage set up so I can tighten one set screw to go from progressive to non-progressive. I just picked up an EAC & another set of EAB heads as well for a roadster my buddy & I are collecting parts for. That combo's probably the hottest you can get with stock stuff I'd say so I'm excited to hear yours run!

Hey Pat, happy to hear your pile of parts is moving!
Yes I am running the EAB heads so far. Offys are at the machine shop currently.
Come hear it at Oxford, Me. Memorial day weekend

Got some more tasks checked off the list today after working and the Kingpins season opener show. Made a gasket for the top of the oil filter housing, mounted the radiator, made new radiator support rods, fabbed up a choke actuator I robbed from a 94. Had to make my own collared screw (tedious but kinda fun because it worked), fabbed up front to rear choke rod. Got a lot done today, yes! 20240505_175146.jpg 20240505_175155.jpg 20240505_175258.jpg 20240505_182011.jpg 20240505_182912.jpg 20240505_191005.jpg

Been crazy at work and my whole family showed up to paint my garage yesterday so I've been prepping all week after work. Wiped out but still got some crap done today. Going up to Oxford, Maine for this weekend racing the roadster. 1/8th mile drags, swap, show, etc. Really looking forward to it. Have a list to get done before Thursday 20240519_171051.jpg 20240519_185414.jpg 20240519_194912.jpg 20240519_195005.jpg 20240519_202524.jpg

New motor required grill to be moved forward a little, I like to run a hood so I hacked some "shell extensions". Made up an ignition wires holder upper that doubles as a throttle spring holder.
While breaking in the cam the water pumps leaked pretty bad so hopefully I can grab a pair tomorrow

Snagged a pair of water pumps today at Millworks hot rod shop in NH. Great guys and they have what I need always! 21009.jpeg

Swapped out water pumps after work, after removing and cleaning the carb on the lawn mover, mowing said lawn, belts back on and tight. Fire it up and front carb leaked for a minute but stopped (wtf) ran it through a good heat cycle, set timing, set idle. 17-18" steady vacuum, 190*, oil @ 28psi, battery charging, rumpy idle 17163388688214982164873335234861.jpg . I have a stiffie

First time out in quite awhile. First test drive went well, I need a smilectomy. Runs strong but some tinkering required when I get it off the trailer at the drags tomorrow. 20240522_172437.jpg 20240522_171855.jpg

How are you addressing crankcase ventilation? Hidden PCV?

  25. I mean, just because the car is from 1929, doesn’t mean your tent has to be. Good god, man!!!
