I think the front frame extension is what gives it that look. I believe this would be the definition of a suicide front end. It has a certain agricultural look, more like a tractor than a truck.

The bid is less than $150 now.....I might just buy it.....take the grille shell...and KILL the truck and put it out of it's misery. Part out the pieces....and crush the frame and such....

Everyone has their own tastes and ideas. But that thing is an eye sore. And from his/her description of it, it sounds like they have no idea what they are talking about. But I figure the cab is worth $250-$300, and the motor maybe $500-$750.

  9. that thing is a waste of atomic space.

Ah, it's in Decatur, IL. Somehow it all makes sense now... :D

  11. Wow. A rolling advertisement for enforced eugenics. I thought maybe if you swapped the body for like a 30-31 with the top off it would be okay, but you also need to swap the frame out for a 30-31. So what would be the point...

On the bright side, the chopped cab with a title would be a good start. Just get a parts truck with the rest of the body on it -

  12. That is the picture I get in my mind every time some Dumb ass tells me he wants to build a rat rod, or every time I hear the term in general. Webster needs to put that pic in the dictionary under the term

Front axle sits too far forward. Here's a quick and dirty Photochop with the front end repositioned. Doesn't look bad like this. I don't dig the late model cab deal, but I have seen some guys build some pretty cool rods around them. I think this one needs a box and some other re-working, but setting the axle back a foot really helps.

I don't think it's actually extended or body set back--look at the kickup area for the (original) axle. I think he just removed the parallel springs, which placed the axle way back from the front of the frame, and welded in a crossmember for the Ford spring at the very front of the frame horns and cut away about the rear half of the frame. It's all academic, though, as the result is a frame that NEEDS to be scrapped, preferably with its builder impaled on it.
My only problem with the death penalty is that we blindly misapply it--the very worst crimes involve TASTE.

hahaha...don't be bashful Bruce...tell us what you really feel! :D

  20. Right on target again Bruce ;) .

If he didn' set the body back, how could he've used those headers. Everyone knows ya' build a hot rod around the headers  .

I like those rear radius rods too. Now right there, is some first class shit.

  21. Still looking for it - haven't seen anything that looks even remotely like "engineering" yet...

  26. Well, not unless you plan to build a truck that looks like it was built during a three day drunk, after taking a 3-hour welding class 5 years ago, and ends up like a bad cartoon come to life, I guess. All this thing needs is a shifter that sticks 3 feet out of the top of the cab, and some top fuel dragster slicks in the back. Or maybe not, I think I'm insulting the folks who draw those cartoon cars (although it's not hard to picture the builder as looking like the goofy guys they draw up driving those creations).

He's close enough to go pick it up... I'd pay $300 to meet this guy and take pictures of him (assuming they give him the weekend pass)

  29. there's 500 bucks worth of parts there easily. he should have it for sale in the parts area of ebay.
