I know a lot of people here dont like SBC. I myself have a Chevy (1935) so I think that it is ok for the car. Most of the time I really could care less what other cars have (to each his own) but this just seems like the wrong motor for this car. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/e...MEWA:IT&viewitem=&item=170126474514&rd=1&rd=1
There seems to be alot of that going around....CROSSBREEDING.....Like a nice '40's style car with Buick drums for instance......see that ALOT. I don't mind it too much, guys are using there favorite cool parts from "back then" and using 'em for their own rods.....maybe not 100% "correct" for any given "era"....but still cool in my book..... That roadster is NICE......even though it's not an "A"....he he.....
SBC in an '32 Ford? Oh yeah, rodders never souped up their pre-war stuff with smaller, lighter, more powerful OHV V8's.... Are we reading from the same text book here?
Well, it could be worse. At least it's not a billet clad LS crate Vette motor. I have an all real steel '34 Ford 5W and I have a SBC in it. Is this a misdemeanor or a felony? Vance
Are you kidding me? What's wrong with the SBC for that car? Did you read how far he has driven without a hiccup? Put a flathead in that car and he would have been stranded in the middle of the desert. The car was built to be driven and that is exactly the power plant to allow him to do so!
Yeah....it does seem a little wrong...that's because the car has a forties vibe....the SBC wasn't out then. Sure, it could be said that it was "updated" in '56 per say, but so would have the wheels/tires and other stuff to keep up with the times......so to speak...... Can ya see where I'm coming from???? It's no different than using a new LS-1 in an otherwise late 50's(for example) car.....mixing eras........although the LS-1 guy would get a ration of shit....hahahaha!!!!
Yeah I was going to burn mine, but then I thought it might be fun to actually drive it. I'm glad I reconsidered. I figure this has been a combo for about 37 years.
At least it looks like a fifties small block, not a billet modern transplant!I just wish i had the $$ to buy it,that's the part that isn't right.
whats with the recent threads started to talk shit about someone elses ride...it wasnt that long ago when the majority of threads in the first few pages were of someone making a part and posting pics of the progress...now its just a bunch of flaming, pic requests, and ot posts go build something...then share YOUR pictures
AMEN!!!You're so right, too many negative critics lately! At the same time, too many people post a thread, just to instigate these type of reactions.
So What !,...... If the car wasn't actually built in the 40's as a Hot Rod what difference does it make ?,....... in fact most of the "Traditional Hot Rods" being built today is from the scrap that Restorers and Hot Rodders alike passed up back in the day, and they aren't real Hot Rods from the 40's or 50's , they are reproductions, adaptations or just plain fakes. If you want to build a car with a 40's "VIBE" with a northstar under the hood, who's business is it other than your own,.... If your building a car to please someone else or a certan group, your building it for the wrong reason. Thats what the "gold chainers" are all about.
Yep, it belongs to bonesy. How dare he put that ol' reliable lump into his car, then proceed to actually drive it thousands of miles? Sheesh, some people..... -Ryan
WHoa man...calm down...read my other post....I dig it.....but we are here to build "traditional" cars, all with a certain look......and this car HAS IT...
one of you guys should click the buy it now then YOU could put any thing you want in it for an engine...back in the day guys could not yank those flatties out fast enough to put an overhead valve engine in their hot rod or custom.....I like that Hot Rod just the way it is... John
