Moldy! You're a dang genius - very few people know that about Homer Simpson (for my money, STILL the best safety equipment out there)...

Allright, Paul! Wear your Gosson Bros shirt proudly, over there in the motherland. It's bound to get some doubletakes from the Morry and Mini crowd - go ahead and have some fun with those guys: Tell 'em it's your car and you almost qualified for a red (200MPH Club) hat at B-ville, but you rolled it at an estimated 196MPH and although you thrashed it back together good enough to drive, you could only hold a top speed of 22MPH, all the way back to Oregon - took 3 days and nights of non-stop driving...that's why you had the heart attack - from all the coffee, trying to stay awake on the road. Your doctor sent you back to England to rest, but now you're planning your next project: an attempt at the English Channel crossing record, in a big block powered rowboat...
Enjoy...and thanks again for supporting this nonsense!

Renrob - You bet we have shirts in your size. Just go to the "Help support the Bonneville dream" thread (use the "search" button at the top of the page) and order there.
So, do you mean that a bunch of you guys are planning on coming to World of Speed? It would be great to meet you there...
Thanks so much for supporting this whacky deal. That goes for you and everyone else - one t-shirt at a time...You guys are all heroes.

Cool! You guys coming to World of Speed, or Speedweek? I'll probably be too busy for Speedweek this year (in fact, if I had that time, I'd love to hit the HAMB drags)...Hope I don't miss you guys.....

Hey Turbo, does that parrot know how to wrench? If so, I'll put sunflower seeds and peanuts on the grocery list. Ah hell, send him anyway - will save me time trying to report this on here - he does know how to post pix, right?

Earlier on this thread, I mentioned some people who stepped up to help make this deal happen. Mr. Turboroadster is another! My ultra-mega crusty homemade headers are now on their way to Texas, so Turbo can wave his magic wand over them and transform them into AMBR/Riddler contenders! Running them on the salt will be a great test of this coating and if successful, could be a future selling point for his business, "Your Powdercoating Connection". Even if the coating dies a horrible death at B-ville, this guy is still a hero for even offering to try this, plus he'll have some good solid info about the product he sells. Oosp - didn't mean to Spam up the joint - just meant to say Thanks, Tim! This'll be a fun experiment!

  11. ^^ wooot wooot for helping each other, gives ya the fuzzy wuzzies.
Your headers arrived today, they said they missed the JangleGuy already. I of course told 'em to STFU and get back in the box.

Excellent! Don't take any crap offa my parts - I did and now they're all demanding attention, all the time. When the rest of the engine parts get a load of those headers all dolled up, the shit's gonna fly...I can hear it now: "Ya know, people who really care about their pistons have 'em coated!", or "Sure, you can afford to Hollywood the headers, but would it kill you to get the bearings coated? Oh well, priorities..." I'm afraid we've opened a large can of worms here.....

Turbo, you're a total stud hero guy! Thanks again! This'll be one of the most fun experiments I've ever conducted...

Looking forward to meeting you, Renrob. Look for a couple of skinny crusty guys, driving a funky little black Nerdmobile - we'll probably have a swarm of flies around us...
Sounds like there'll be a few HAMBers there. It's gonne be great to finally put some faces to the names. Hope you're bringing something to run.....

Buddy in High School had a Morris....we were band nerds. Came out one afternoon to find it balanced nicely on top of a 55 gal. trash can.

Ha! So they ARE good for something - holding down trash cans! Funny, I was 20-some years old when I saw my first Morris and got into them. Now, it seems that everyone has a Morris story - usually about a friend/relative who had one they rode in, to and from high school (usually with several people jammed in there). Around here, we had Hillmans, Lloyds, Anglias, VWs and Corvairs, but I never heard of a Morris until the Army sent me to the midwest - word out there is: they all got rusty while being shipped over here and couldn't sell 'em on the west coast, but people in the midwest thought all cars were naturally rusty, so all the Morrises went there. This was always told with a wink and a nod, but fact is, Morrises were pretty rare out here - still are, compared with the midwest.....

Got a quick little break in the action today and just want to thank all of you who have sent words of encouragement, bought shirts, pitched in with parts and/or elbow grease, or otherwise supported this deal. It's happening here locally too, but nothing like on the HAMB - you people are amazing! This is grassroots hot rodding.
Todays update: Picked up the hitch to fab a tow bar, so I can tow the car out to Dr. Lockjaws shop and do that chassis work. Am sanding/painting the hood and decklid. Waiting to hear back from some people I farmed jobs out to: Isky said a month ago they'd have my (custom grind) cam ready; TCI rebuilt the converter and I just found out today that it's finally on its way home. A local shop is going through the trans (I ran out of time!) and it should've been done last month; Turboroadster has the headers for coating.
It's my hope that by the time Dr. Lockjaw and I get the chassis sorted out, all of these missing pieces will be back here, ready to fall into place - and we'll get the car together in time for some road&track testing, then it's off to the salt! We'll see about that...
However it goes, it sure has been a happy surprise to see old friends and total strangers alike jump in and help make it all happen. To say I'm humbled and honored is an understatement. Thank you, one and all.....

Okay, thanks, Nate! Didn't realize I sent so many pix! Anyway, I guess I got some 'splainin' to do...
Went to the track last weekend to sell shirts. Got a little sidetracked, crewing for friends and ended up selling about one shirt (typical). Here's some info on the pix:
    1. Set up shop in Dr. Lockjaws pit. Track announcer Rob Frazier is an old friend and he spammed up the shirts pretty good, but we were hardly ever in the pit. Heard later that I missed several sales. Doh!
    2. Before the race on Sunday morning, I hit the local swap meet to sell shirts. Sold about zero shirts, but I did okay - bought 3 of these Cal Custom valve covers ($40) for the new top secret Crankcase Evacuation System (wait'll you get a load of this set-up!)...
    3. Scored these SW guages for $23. Now I need a matching (Deluxe electric) tach and I'll finally have the guages I want in the Morris. Got an extra one?
    4. Back to the track. This is hero/friend Ron Austins pit. Crewed for him for a couple seasons and learned SO much! A bit modern for my tastes, but this is the CLEANEST car on earth and deadly consistent. Best so far is 9.20s (on a super low budget!).
    5. Dave Thompsons pit on the left - my old boss. AA/GS Willys runs low 7s. It's bad. On the right is the 7-11 pit - I crewed/drove here for a couple years. This pit is always party central.
    6. Dr. Lockjaw (my best friend, Jamie Ford) hisself - a very rare shot!
    7. One Shot on the helmet was still wet!
    8. I also used to announce there, so inevitably got sucked into the tower for a while - made the most of it by shooting some pix. Here's the Batto Trucking Crosley - worlds baddest smallblock!

    9. Too bad there's no sound with this - 10,000RPM!!!!!!!!!!
    10. Old pal Craig Wallace had to thrash a fresh 'Glide into his A-bomb before the race. Got the bugs worked out, then went out in 1st round - a rare event! He's the VRA 3-time Champ (in NEIII).
    11. Craig again.
    12. Dr. Lockjaw matching up against local guy, Tom McHenry (God I loved this '56 when it ran grey primer, but I'm gettin' used to this look). BTW, Doc ran a new best of 9.57 here. The '56 runs high 10s.
13 - 16. Some 7-11 shots for you. Man, I wish this had audio!!! They're toying with the idea of bringing it to the HAMB drags this year - whatta ya think?
    17. See? Actual shirts for sale - I did try, kind of...
18 - 22. Detail shots of the Tetanus II. The Doc does nice work - and I'm proud to have helped...
So you see, between crewing for all of these guys, plus my track duties, there wasn't much time for shirt selling. Hey, maybe you guys can make up the difference? Just a thought.....

Wait! How 'bout we get some Okies to bury the Morris, then a week before World of Speed, we get Boyd and crew to dig it up and give it CPR, THEN we drive it to the salt and give it the torture test??? Or should we make Boyd drive it there?

This weekend is our local Cruise Weekend. Every year, I make a big deal out of boycotting this controlled "cruise". But I feel a responsibility to try to sell some shirts, so I'm goin' in. Maybe the goldchainers I've been piously judging will step up and buy a bunch of shirts and teach me a lesson? It could happen. So wish me luck, guys - I'm going over to the dark side. If I don't make it back, I hereby donate the Morris to the HAMB. I make this statement, being of sound mind and body,

Well I managed to sell three shirts at the show. Janglegirl took some pix - maybe I can post 'em soon.
Meanwhile, the converter is back from being rebuilt. Turboroadster is sending the headers back on Monday. Trans is almost done. Machine work is slated to begin on Wednesday (original start date was May though). Sparks are flyin' in the shop.
But no magazine money, so we're counting on my Moms house to sell (she passed away recently). My share of that oughta cover the salt trip. Any real estate people on here? I need some selling tips, quick! I'm starting to get pretty nervous about this...

Thanks for the pix, Nate! What a stud guy!
    Okay, the pix:
    1. Grinning at the show, because I'm parked with the 'chainers - some of these cars I built/worked on. None of these guys bought shirts though. All shirts were bought by the two traditional cars that rolled in. Ha!
    2. Janglegirls dog, Lena, modeling a shirt - in case your dog is wondering how she/he would look in one of these babies...

Meanwhile, our moms house finally sold - supposed to close on next Monday! Whew...And the machine shop align honed the mains yesterday. And Turboroadster says the headers will be here by Wednesday. It's starting to come together. And i'm starting to burn out...Gotta get back in the shop now and finish the tow bar. Later,
    Scotty
