I yet to deal with the rear end so am i navagating new water (no clue on rear ends). Does any one know if there are any rear ends that can bolt in place or need few modification. I am looking for ideas, blogs or picture of someone that has done it.

So far i have hear 55-57 chevy bolt on and 71-80 camaro fits with some work.???

  3. I'll 2nd the S10/ Blazer 4X4 rear. Easy to find and a good variety of gear ratios too. Todd

A 68-74 V8 Nova rearend will be an easy install in your 50s Chevy.

a main consideration is the correct ratio to go with the 700 tranny. depending on tire size i would guess something around 3.50.

I am currently swapping mine. right now it has a 75 Camaro which is 61 1/2 wide. I'm running 15X7 rims with 4 1/2 backspace.

The new rear end is a 64 Chevelle and is 60 inches wide. Then I will be able to move to a 15X8 with a 5 inch backspace to get some wider rubber underneath.

As far a bolt in, no. I using the rear end mount kit from Chassis engineering.

Outside to outside of drum, right where the wheel meets the drums. Thats the kit but it isn't installed yet.
