I'm looking for a source for the Ford Ivory color used on '54 engines. Anyone know where I can find it? Alternatively if I don't go that route what color should I paint it? I was kind of thinking Universal Cast Iron from Eastwood. Anyone have another suggestion?
There's a guy who specializes in Ford restoration paint, mostly for Model A's but others as well, but darned if I can remember his name. Old-Timer's Disease. Somebody will...
this might help it was posted on another fourm by someone! "Reference engine color for the 1954 Y block. There was an article in the Feb. 2004 issue of "Fomoco Times" that states the following. The correct paint for the 54 valve covers is red Ditzler #DDL-3153. There is no high heat paint manufactured for the almond colored engine block. Article further states that first paint the engine block with plain cast iron heat-resistant paint . Then paint over with Martin Senor #99L-11562 almond color. Hope this helps. "
this is something i also found : "Bill Hirsch has a high temp engine paint in Packard Cream which I used and it is very close to the original Almond color for the '54 Y Block."
Thanks LostHope! missysdad1 - I'm not old enough to call it OTD, but I have the CRS version of the same affliction!
