Source for small air filters?

Where does everyone buy the small 3 or 4" diameter air filter used in the common 94 & 97 air cleaner assemblies? I've read alot about the cheap foreign filters that come with them and found out first hand they suck - literally. The 292 Y-block in my '55 ford won't even idle right with the cheap POS that came with the assembly. Who sells a decent high flow filter? Here's a pic of the setup on my '55.

If you want maximum CFM and don't mind spending the money,Summit carries the K&N filter elements for these filters. Street Rodder did a study about 10 years ago measuring CFM of paper vs. K&N on Rochester 2 barrels and the paper flowed about 75 and K&M flowed about 150.

I've seen the replacement filters at napa, but they might be the same overseas junk you've got.

  9. Get the K&N's. They're pricey but they work and are forever.

I've got K&N's on some of my other motors and they are great. I might try to go that route with these. I might even go with some old helmet style with the built in screens. They mainly keep the big chunks out, but you don't get alot of dust/dirt driving down the paved roads of today.
