Even after using the search function, I'm unable to find the name of the outfit that cuts down or reduces the diameter of a stock steering wheel. Looking for 1-1/2" or 2" reduction on a '60 T-Bird. Thanks in advance
There was a great tech article on how to do that yourself in Classic Truck magazine about 2 or 3 months ago...very in depth and informative. I've done it using a new hoop from another wheel, though I wish now that I had cut the original hoop down to fit (the way the tech article in Classic Truck demonstrated). There is an outfit here in Northern California but I don't have the magazine in front of me to give you that info. I'll look for it and try to post later tonight.
Check Kochs wheel restoration. They'll modify yours and they sell wheels from their own stock. They are making a 50-52 olds wheel for me cut down to 15 1/2". Matching colors. Takes about 3 weeks. Phone 661-268-1341 Teresa is the contact. High level service shop. Posted from the TJJ App for iPhone & iPad
I just happened to be reading in TRJ 51 (I'm behind in my reading) about George Poteet's 34 truck built by The Hot Rod Garage. It has an original wheel cut down by Quality Restorations in Poway, CA. Pete
Yep, that's the one. I've always been pretty hands-on with this stuff, and this article offers a clear step-by-step to do it your self...
