    Hello, folks,

I'm preparing to take the plunge and get a 30s or 40s Ford or Chevy.

First and foremost, I need to make sure that what I get can fit in the garage.

Can someone point me to any sources for this kind of information? For instance, I need to know the overall dimensions (length & width) of a '41 Chevy 2-door club coupe and a '48 Ford fordor.

    Any****istance is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I have a 1953 book called Handy Guide for Car Owners, that lists thist type of stuff....

The length data for some reason starts with 1946 instead of 1935 like most of the other data. Fortunately the 41 and 46 chevys were similar, the wheelbase is the same.

1946 Chevy overall length 198 inches, overall width 73 inches, weight 3100 lbs

    1948 Ford 89A wb 114, length 198, width 73, weight 3213
    1948 Ford 87HA wb 114, length 200, width 73, weight 3245

Also on these, as well as most cars, the number of doors does not affect the length or wheelbase.

I've got some lists on my site that may help. They are all found in the Tech/Toolbox section. There is a wheel base listing, axle dimensions and stuff to help you id parts plus a bunch of other references, calculators and the like - all of interest and help to hot rodders.

It doesn't list an author. Published by Wm H Wise & Co.
