Since floater rear ends are Hell-NO not allowed!..what about loosening the U-bolts on the rear assembly(double nutting them so they won't totally back off). Sort of a "gray-area" as Smokey Yunick would say. You could keep them lubed to reduce friction AND wear on the housing. The Crites bar will keep it aligned side-to-side.
Just a thought to get around the "HELL-NO!" issue.
