Yes this is correct, but to be remotely compe***ive in any cl*** you are going to have to run under the minimum number and cross the scales. It was done this way so that guys could run what they had until they started to get compe***ive, and it keeps the show moving faster since there isnt a line waiting to cross the scales. Yes, there are a couple of pitfalls to the system, but i feel the benefits out weigh the negatives. You will see pretty much every car that wins first round have to cross the scales in every cl*** before the year was over if i was a betting man
Correct! And let's get this straight, there is no breakout in the SEG. First man there wins. Just be ready to hit the scales if you run the number. There is a man at the scales with your et and if you p*** him by, you are dq'd. This happened to Donovan and it cost him a win. The system works, no way around it. My goal is to be weighed after every p***!
That's my goal as well, run at least a tenth under(or faster!) and if I get beat the other guy better be dialed in weight wise cause I will be! A win is a win in my books!!!!
Anyone that has run a SEG race will tell you that is easier said than done. A legal car has to be very well sorted out to get to that ET. Half the battle is driving it well enough to be that quick. Because you have to use the clutch during the shifts, that impacts the time more than you would think. Couple that with fuel, head, manifold, tire, suspension, restrictions and your work is cut out for you. Robert. . Sorry to hijack your thread. Great looking car, I followed the build from the start. Are the wheels on it older Torque Thrust? I've been looking at the newer Torque Thrust D wheel, ain't much available now that don't have that china look, prices on vintage wheels has sky rocketed. Good luck this season, keep us updated!
These were new when I built the car. Quain had to approve them first. They came from Summit. 15 x 4 and 15 x 10
Mine is just like Quains, only without that "professional" look. Works good once I got all the geometry (I should have paid attention in cl***) figured out. All under the floor.
Willy it's real simple (and I have explained this to you before) if a car don't run under the minimum it's very unlikely that he's going to win a SEGA race. (yes it has happened once in 7 years and could happen again I guess) The reason we don't weigh ever car is because 90% of the tracks today don't have scales so we have to use portable ones. do you know how long it takes to weigh a car on portable scales. If we weighted every car it would take at least an hour between rounds. Another reason is to give the lower buck guys a chance to come out and run in front of the packed bleachers at one of our events. Ya'll don't give up on Black & Blue. We towed 1000 miles this weekend, broke all our parts and we came home. We will regroup and be back at Shady Side with a little better parts. It gets a little discouraging, but the bright side is that we found enough power this winter to break these things. Spent the weekend with the best bunch of racers and fans in the world. On our way home, we had dinner at Cracker Barrel. When the server brought my dinner, he looked at my side order of beans, then at my Southeast G***ers shirt, again at the beans then at me and just grinned. He knew I was a Gasoholic! All is good.
It is just amazing the difference the Blue makes on this little car, great job on picking that color combination. Also, while I am sorry you are breaking parts, I am glad you found the power to do that.
I feel your pain. I towed 1800+ miles round trip for 1.25 runs. That's racing. I'll be at Shadyside as well. Hopefully stronger and with more spares in the trailer..LOL
Sounds like you guys need a summer home closer to the tracks. But that's just me talking when I haven't even started yet. Other than the vision and some prats.
I know that. Man, we all felt your pain. I think that hurt me about as much as loosing me parts. Maybe we are done breaking for a while!
I appreciate that. New Holland blue. That's the first time we had seen it outdoors. It was raining when we painted it and has rained every weekend since. The engine really is stout. Best I've had in a long, long time. Hope to sort out a few things before it breaks too!
What did you break ? I couldn't make Montgomery, but we will be at Shadyside to watch. It is going to be 500 miles to the closest race for me. We are talking about a motor home and staying in Tn. for the racing season when we get the Morris Minor done.
Car looks so awesome! I wanted to come over and hang out more but running zip ties and chicken wire takes a lot of my free time. Hope we can talk mopar stuff more at Shady Side.
Broke a brand new clutch Fri night and a transmission Sat. Don't have transmission out yet to see what went wrong.
Dang, you did have some bad luck. Hope you got all the broken stuff out of the way and the rest of the season is better.
