It was suggested that I start a new thread to gather feedback from those who are actually running SP Tops on their hot rod. Looking for anyone who has had success with original, but mostly the repro ones, such as the John's Rod & Custom SP tops that Ross Racing use. Ran 6 originals on the Gentleman's Coupe. Never had a problem with them but in fairness Tony built the motor and engineered custom filters for them. Drove it to Austin and back a couple of times for @6k miles and it never skipped a beat. Loved them but they are SUPER hard to find now other than the sand castings on eBay and through AU. Cecil Yother in California does some solid die cast ones which are infinity preferably to the sand cast ones out there.
I know its been a while but bumping this back from the depths of the HAMB for some insight from you legends.
I just picked up a 4x2 intake with these SP top 97’s and am curious also. I‘ve read multiple times that 97’s work better with the choke plates in place for a street car. I’ll probably just run them as is and see how it acts before making any changes.
Haven't used mine yet . I have the Cecil Yother ones but as been already posted , they are very quality crafted.
