Well, we like to stay pretty busy in Central IL. I bought this truck a month or 2 ago and was going to build another spacetruck out of it. It is identical to the one I started with. Well, I no sooner got it home and Frizby decided that he had to have it. So I gave it to him for what I had in it.

I am excited about this project for a few reasons:

    1. Frizby has money and has already bought all of the suspension goodies needed to build the truck, so the build ought to go fairly quickly.

    2. Frizby has ambition and will actually work on his truck more than 15 minutes a week.

    3. Frizby has his own ideas on how to make a "new and improved" spacetruck.

    Here is the before shot.

Right now it is in "super mock up mode"

Motor is a 401 nailhead with turbo 400 tranny, rear end is a posi 9 inch Ford.

Rear end or "bed" is not to be disclosed yet, just because it has not been procured.

I am sure someone will pipe up and tell us what we are doing wrong, or how "they would have done it". Please, enlighten us!

The frame is pretty much done and the cab has been channelled, which I forgot to take a side shot of.

This build should go quickly because I already made all of the mistakes the first time around. Knowing what to do is half the battle, I think. I am not going to let him screw up where I did.

It is 2 59 ford grilles cut down, I had one on the wall and frizby had one as well.

That one was totally his idear, not mine. I think it will look good too.

If his ideas for this are anywhere near what he was doing with the '52, that thing is going to be cool! Not to hijack, but did he ever get that taillight transition worked out?

He has taken a a hiatus from the '52 to build the truck. He needs to do the 52 up right and fix all that had been wronged on that car before he got it. The truck will go together quickly.

Dr J, we can still roll with the ladies, anytime, anywhere. Ha Ha Ha.

I have a Question? How many sacks of corn (80,000 kerns to a sack) or cases of beer will the 2.0 space truck be able to carry?

Oh! That hurts man. I would probably be much more motivated if I was still in my own garage. It takes a bit more to want to drive to somebody elses shop to work on your car. I think he will make one hell of a truck out of this. Besides I put in a solid 20 minutes a week on mine.

If all goes well, this thing should end up being cooler than mine.

As for sacks of corn, well, it was a ton truck, so a full pallet wouldn't be much of a chore. But if all goes well with the donor we have in mind, maybe a 1 pound sack of sweet corn and a soft sided beer cooler will fit.

Mr. Valentine, you will have ample opportunity to wow us with your progress when it goes to your place in a couple of weeks. Ha Ha Ha

What a poser! Oh that's me. That's the nicest shit Arron has ever said I'm gonna cry. I'm exited about this truck, as most of you I fell in love with the space truck when I first laid eyes on it, but didn't want to copy off the Grote, but wuth his permission, guidence, and tons of cheesy hair metal to the brain we hatched this scheme to build this one. It's kind of a sickness, once you see one comming together out of truly nothing you start thinking about all the great ass ends and all the shit you can flip, cut, section, and stick together to get something truly different. Anyway I've always loved Roth's creations and would love to nail that 60's show rod look. I'll keep working and we'll see what happens.

Love to have a 60 boniville or catalina back, as a matter of fact if anyone knows where there are any 59 to 62 rustbuckets fins or not give us a call where always interested.

I'll get back to the Chevy after this truck build. I decided to fix all the rust and bondo before I continued customizing you gotta have something good to weld to. Plus as I didn't relize customs take alot more time and money to get right. I still rub her down every once in a while so she knows she's still my girl.

Those grille pieces look more like a 58 Ford than a 59......59s were little "stars"...
    Looks great in there.

  26. How about '58 Chrysler quarters on that thing? They'd match the beltline angle I think if you hung them right. Cant them a little bit. Or '60/'61 would work nice too.

Then again I have both, so maybe I am partial.

I am still two months and some change on the year into the project point. I would say I am doing exceptionally well considering I had only built bikes prior to this. Besides I had a goal and failed, but that is o.k. because I don't want to follow a strict schedule becuase it makes it less fun! Everyone seems to think if it is not going to be fun then why do it. I am happy at my pace of using it to relax from the work grind. I don't want it to feel like a job. I have no plans of stopping or to quit working on it. I had no idea building hot rods could be so much like a soap opera. I would have started taking estrogen pills had I known they would help build cars.

Besides if you miss me just say so.

We love drama because we have nothing better to do with our time. Well besides building hot rods, drinking beer, and listening to metal, and just having an all around good time.

Actually, you are on your 4th missed goal. It was supposed to be running by April 1, Goodguys in June, then the HAMB drags, and when I said it had to be out by Oct. 1 to move the El Camino in, YOU said it would be running by then. But who is keeping track? Ha Ha Ha. Since you are a project manager for a living, we all just go by what YOU tell us. So, you bring the ball busting on yourself Matthew, and we have a damn good time making fun of you in your absence! Ha Ha Ha;)

Actually, you will probably want to move it before this weekend because the Bondo dust will be flying, and once I have my car all cleaned off and prepped, you won't be able to do any grinding on yours anymore anyway. I am sure you don't want dirt down in your motor and it is about to get messy out there.

Tingler, Frizby and I just like working on junk. If you lived up here you could have a spacetruck too. Ha Ha Ha. I may have to pull Frizby off of his project for the weekend so I can try to get mine where I want it to be, but he doesn't know that yet. It doesn't look like his will make the pileup anyway. He'll just have to drive the spacetruck up for me. Oh, the shame of it all.
