The edge must be sanded to kill the sharpness and when you paint the whole panel the edge automatically gets painted...but if for some reason you were cutting holes in a finished panel I can see it being a problem. That wouldn't be a normal situation though...especially on the outside panels. Maybe putting holes thru a firewall...or adding a gauge to a finished dash or something, and even then the edge gets covered by a bezel.
I found another great tool for marking hole spacing as well .....it was old and dusty believe it was my grandfather's I showed it to my father and he remembered seeing his dad use it for something similar. .......... Can't upload a picture but I'll try to explain it..... It's about 3/4 of an inch wide It's flexible thin metal Has all these lines on it And like almost every inch or so There's numbers on it ............... It even rolls up into a squarish case ! I told my dad it would be cool If we put some kind if clip on the back Where you could hang it on your belt and take it with you Lol Just playing great tool you've found I'm going to get one -chop Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. " human mind finds odd-numbered quan***ies more pleasing " ...I went with 2.5 (ID holes = 1" & 3/4")....Coincidence...?
Dammit, I hate being stupid. I'm going to drill 2-1/4" holes in my visor. What is the Golden Ratio spacing for them? http://www.mathsisfun.com/numbers/golden-ratio.html Hopefully I can operate a hole saw.
Well I came up with 1.39 between holes by hook or crook. Going to lay it out today and see how it looks. I know it's not really important, just want to tell people I used the Golden Ratio.
You've been fretting about this for over a year? Let's see all the ones you put in the s**** pile in the meantime.
A year ago I drilled the small holes, which cured the wind buffeting problem. Then I fretted about a lot of other stuff until a few weeks ago when I raised the *** end and now can't see the traffic lights. The Golden Ratio. Going with it I think. Today hopefully.
13 holes, size dictated by the biggest hole saw I had. I laid it out on cad till it looked good to me and eliminated most of the bad spots on the bumper. Didn't know about the Golden rule. (edit: or the Golden Ratio either)
Well, it is an "intellectual" thing as 31V pointed out. Those guys couldn't drill hole to save their lives. Bumper looks great, better gloss black. I wonder what would happen if you drove it into a giant pile of Play Dough.
I was going to put this off until next week so I could get ready for the car gathering this weekend but when 31V says shoot you don't hold the ball. I'm Golden! Thanks man! Now where did I put the primer wax.. .
