Dons Hot Rods, I agree with everything you said with the exception of mounting the fans with zip ties. Way better on radiators to securely mount them with small metal tabs.

I also think its high time for some to get over the bitching over electric fans and A/C. This subject has been beat to death more then any other subject on this site.

Does advising someone to spend their money on a Zips riser so they can install a mechanical fan make you a real hot rodder? Zips risers are no more traditional then electric fans. They didn't exist back in the day. They are a newer product then electric fans. This type of thinking gets you tied up in your traditional underwear.

  2. No more that you beating the drum of using Spal electric fans over mechanical fans Gary,we are all entitled to offer varying opinions and past history and let the uneducated make up their own mind.

You and I don't agree on this subject and that's fine,I have tried it your way and had lack luster results.

Disparaging remarks aimed at members that you don't agree with doesn't ever add anything positive to a discussion. HRP

There were no disparaging remarks made in my post. You brought up the traditional issue and I correctly pointed out that in no way are Zips Risers more traditional then electric fans. It would be a cold day in Hell when I would spend my hard earned money on a riser just so I could run a mechanical fan when theres a cheaper way to go.

I have beat the drum for Spal fans because they are the best electric fan on the market. BTW, I have mechanical fans on two of my cars with electric fans on the other. Sometimes space and fiscal constraints require you to take the path of least resistance and it may make sense to utilize an electric fan set up.

  4. This sure seems like it,assume your remarks were aimed at me.

That's interesting Gary,I re-read my post and I don't see where I said anything about a traditional issue, lets just agree to disagree and let this thread continue without any more banter from ether one of us. HRP

HRP, they were directed at me. If space constraints require an electric fan, then that's fine, just dont post about them here. As for the risers, they look MUCH better than an electrical fan by a long shot, whether it's a Zips or a homemade one. Again, there is nothing wrong with an electric fan, they just dont fit in to the time frame that this sites focus.
