Uh, that’s .185 difference. Almost a quarter inch.
I’m not going to reuse the Hughes converter as there is no way I am able to flush out the insides to my satisfaction after it ate the front pump the last time.
No, it’s time for a new, correct converter.

This is one of the reasons I like manual transmissions with proper clutches.

  6. Nov wonder it doesn't fit . It's 3/4 of and inch too long. Better check that again, at another machine shop.
    6.125 to 6.150 " . (period)

The original converter is 6.680 and it worked fine until it broke.

These guys are an hour up the road from me. They will build you anything you need and keep it in budget. I have had their "Tight 10" Street Converter" in my Model A for 15 years.

  9. Again, for the last time I don't know where you're getting those measurements but they are not correct. You don't have to believe me. I've only built about 500 race converters. Ask somebody that built a lot of them then.

None of these numbers are adding up. It’s .185 longer. Not 1/4 not 3/4. More like 3/16.

Take the machine shop word on measurement of 6.865 and mark’s word and website confirmation of 6.120 to 6.150
    Run it thru your calculator.

  14. And that also seems impossible without heavy mid plate. Seeing as dimension A is supposed to 6.120 to 6.150

Not so. This is the setup I’ve been running for a few years now.
    No mid-plate.

Does that dimension vary between transmissions? Is it different between a TH350 and a TH400?

That doesn’t make sense. Think about it. I have two converters that don’t fit ‘the facts’. How could I have two abnormal converters? One with nearly 200k miles logged on it until it’s demise.
    Think about it...
