I've been looking for a special sizes air filter, for my volvo air filter housing for my twin 2bbl setup. The original filter is N/A and no repop in sight.

A custom made up filter costs an arm and a leg.

This is an good Web page.

    http://www.knfilters.com/search/

There is an option to search by dimension.

If you go very loose on filter size, it comes up with a KN size filter, but if it matches up to an Stock size it's possible to cross reference it, and get at number for a filter you can buy cheap at O'Reilly, or wherever you do your parts shopping.

Simple, cheap and easy. Takes longer to measure your current air box then it takes to find the right filter. And instead of 2000kr+shipping both ways, I got it for 195kr, at my local Mechanic. Off the shelf.

Very timely as I was just scheming on filter choices for a custom cleaner I'm cooking up. I would give you +fu if there was a fu meter. I had to settle for a "like".

  5. I have gone to the local parts store many times with my trusty tape rule. First I'll measure boxes, then when I find one about the right size, I'll open it and measure the filter. (doesn't pay to open boxes you know won't fit) After a few tries I usually find what I need. Of course now days with the flat style, boxes are getting deceiving.

I don't know about the new K&N filter catalog, but their older paper catalog (mid 90's) also had dimensional listings for their air filters. That's how I matched one up for the 223 in my sixty. Think the original application was for a Datsun pickup. Might try that. -Dave

Volvobrynk, Do you have a photo of the filter setup after you installed it? Are you running DCOEs like the ones in the photo you posted? I still have the twin factory SUs on my Amazon, but the rest of the engine is factory stock as well. I've been waiting to find a B20 block, and then start upgrading. For now I'm basically content to leave the B18 stock. It's already plenty powerful to have more fun than the police would approve. ;)
