would any of you know if there is a source online where i can lookup interchange specs and drive ratios for ford side shift transmissions, 49-6?'s 3 spds? thanks!
Try this: www.auto-ware.com Click on "Reference Library" on the left side of screen Scroll down to "Std. Transmission gear ratios". Hope this helps. Ron
hi ron, thanks for the link... it helps with late model transmissions and will come in handy with other builds. but i cant seem to locate ratios for 50's ford 3spd's... unfortunately i dont know it all. (friendly sarcasm not directed at you or anyone else)
'49 thru '51 Merc manual lists std. as follows: 1st gear 2.891 to 1.00 2nd gear 1.604 to 1.00 3rd gear 1.00 to 1.00 Reverse gear 3.625 to 1.00 Can't say for the Fords but hope this helps.
deffinately helps blown49, thanks i have motors manuals for these years, i think they will have the information for different makes as well.. unfortunately they are 400miles away at the moment.
