We are VERY close to committing to go to TROG. It's an 800+ mile ride from NW Indiana to Wildwood NJ. The last MINUTE decision is based on Saturdays weather. I realize a motel near by is not likely, but we can drive in from where ever. We intend to buy the $50 "go any where passes", how close to the starting line can we get? I'm bringing my GOOD Canon camera, do I have to use a "long " lens to get decent shots? Does the pass include the pits? The staging lanes? The finish line? Having never been to TROG (much less Wildwood), we have no idea what to expect as far as logistics go. How far is spectator parking from the event? It says the passes are available at the gate. True? As it turns out, I'm going to be the "advance man" to get the perspective of the event, because I'm involved in the build of a T roadster that could very well be an entrant in 2016. I could sure use some feed back from some of you TROG veterans! REALLY hope to see you there BILL RINALDI
I've never been to TROG, but I have been to Wildwood. The town is absolutely filled with motels. I would think you would have no problem finding one within walking distance of the event.
Bill Glad to hear you are building a car for 2016. I am building a boat tail speedster, 1928 model A. I plan on taking it to Newport and try it out. Please stop by my home when you get back to Indiana. I can not wait to hear of your adventure. Take care I will be seeing you Don in N. W. Indiana
The weekend pass will get you access to the races, Friday Nights Night of the Troglodytes Chopper Show, Saturday Nights bonfire party, with musical guests Josh Hi-Fi Sorheim and the Rhythm Kings, Black Flamingos, Ribeye Brothers and The Telltale Signs. There is a highway barrier the length of the track about 25 feet from the track, sand dunes just beyond the barrier also provide a great view telephoto lens not needed unless you want close-ups of Sara the flag girl or the joyus grins on racers faces.. There is a tower for none press photographers to use for brief periods so everyone has a chance. . Pits, staging and finish line are all quite veiwable from 25 feet away. It is about a 200 yard walk on the beach to the waters edge where the race track is. Tickets are available at the gate, the weekend pass is 5 bucks cheaper on line. Just come you will not be disappointed! Weather will be fine, slight chance of morning drizzle, low 70's. There is a thread for it with all the drivers/riders cards and chatter. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/threads/the-race-of-gentlemen-2015.955665/
Every year oodles of photos are posted on the facebook page. https://www.facebook.com/OilersCCRaceOfGentlemen Spectators/photogs are encourged to share photos. Dropbox\GoogleDrive or other sharing site and email> trog_post@yahoo.com the link and a photo album will be made with photogs name.
THANK YOU!!!! Thats the information I've been looking for!!! 20/25 is close enough to get pretty nice close up shots of race in progress using a long lens. I was hoping the pits where more accessible such as Bonneville. ELD, can a pit pass be bought or are they only available to entrants and pit crews? Thanks for the info, I REALLY appreciate it. BILL RINALDI
No pit pass safety reasons small town committees etc. you wont be disappointed race cars gather at the Starlux before and after race. You'll be able to get up close and personal with cars and bikes Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
Even though Wildwood is full of motels and restaurants, some are closed for the season by then. If you have trouble finding one, search out places in Cape May. Only a 5-10 minute drive, and it's beautiful there. Lots of gorgeous Bed and Breakfast places, in old Victorian houses, as well.

We are going to go! Rain or shine we'll be there. The wives are almost happy we're going-----whats that all about? Our plan is to see as much as we can see, participate in what we can, and take as many pictures possible of the cars and crews. Sure hope the weather will co-operate. I haven't done a seat of the pants run in a long time---I'm way overdue. BILL RINALDI
OK, I get it! I'm committed to Cruisin The Coast in Biloxi, I'd like to join you at TROG; Maybe???Jim

I have a room available at the Blue Palms hotel. Friday, Saturday and Sunday night. The Blue Palms is the sister hotel to the host hotel, and is directly across from the beach access for the race. Let me know if you're interested in it...
