I was disappointed with the show and was hoping to see some of the Old Crow. If it is true about the European airing, lets find it on the web and get a link to it.

I caught it and liked it. Of course, it could have been better. More traditional hot rods would have been nice and I think there was a little too much coverage of wrecks. You have to remember, the average viewer had probably never even heard on the flats, so a little drama would be needed to keep their attention. I look forward to more coverage, but it probably won't happen.

All I know is, I have got to get out there one day. One more thing on my list of things to do before I die.

You are right, TV is just a filler for when we are not on the HAMB, if it weren't for Denise alerting us it was on, I would have missed it. Glad Discovery Channel covered it.:D

I kept looking for us! Thank goodness I have DVR- 'rewind, pause, play' happened a lot last night. It was neat to see the front shot and at speed shot of Hooley's Stude and also the 3 or 4 of the Old Crow. Saw lots of friends on there and remembered a lot of good times.

They could film the salt without saying a word and it would make me happy! Just like Burt Munro said, "We are standing on holy ground".

Forgot all about it - Doh! Came home tired and went to bed without turning on the TV.
Sounds like typical TV stuff, from what you guys are sayin'. But I'll try again next month for the re-run. I could use a look at the salt right now - winter is not my friend...

    PS to my previous post.

It was better than nothing. My girl watched it with me and thought it was cool. She doesn't know a lot about hot rods, but I'm educating her the best I can. So, maybe some of the people who saw the show and didn't have a clue will some how gain a little knowledge and appreciate what we do.

Exposure, in a good format, is always a good thing. Now if I could get my girl to stop calling hot rods "buggies".:D

Thinking about it a little more, the only thing I was really upset over was how they made it sound like you could just build a car, show up and run. They also made it sound (and look) like all of the old cars were there to run. I'm sure the SCTA loved it. Think I'll go over to the landracing site and check out what they are saying about it...

I guess "The Road to Bonnevlle" has finally got some competition. :p

Wow, thanks for pointing that out. I would have baked cookies and got all cozy in front of the TV for nothing!

I woud've still watched if it had been made by a 4 year old with a hand held super 8. It's better than all the crappola on TV.

There is a show about the Sturgis, SD motorcycle rally on tonight at 9:00 pm EST, also (right before the B'ville show). Thought I'd mention it here, since it might be worth checking out....

  17. Here in AZ the Sturges show is at 10pm followed by the salt flat one at 11pm channel 23 for phoenix az.

Watching now-another stupid ad on. Good to at least see bits of the course set up,etc.
Never been there. Been to El Mirage. Same basic set up, with dirt instead of salt.

Cool to see the salt flats, and the cars, but way over produced for me. Would have been nice to see more of the traditional hot rods though.

Ditto, but anything about going fast is a good motivation for me. I have REALLY got to go there one time. Even if I don't have a car. I just wanna be there.

  23. West Coast Guys, its on at 10:00 tonight.
