Just picked up a cool little item and I'm wondering if anyone's heard of this one company. I found a nice clean complete little Chevy 283 complete with Mallory distributer and Mallory coil as well as a "Speed-Jems" dual quad intake with two 1850-2 Holley carbs. Nice piece that I think I'll rebuild as a back up for the 283 inmy ElCamino. The Speed Jem intake is a mystery to me though. Any info on this company out there? Thanx BTW - I'll post some pics soon as well as some block and casting numbers.
Is it marked "Speed Jems" or is it actually Speed 'Gems' with a G? Speed Gems primarily is known for making transmission adapters and bellhousings...I have a Speed Gems adapter on both of my Model As. Can't say I've ever seen a Speed Gems intake manifold for any application, so please post pics when you can!
The do. I have a ton of old plaques marked Speed Gems on the back. I also once had a hemi transmission adaptor cast by them.
Speed Gems was based out of Minneapolis. "Just Steve" Hendrickson knew quite a bit of their history. They made plaques, trans adapters, a "mystery shifter" and other foundry type items. To bad Steve's gone, or He could tell us more!
Sorry for the (long) delay. Yes it is Speed Gems on the intake. Very low profile - I'm wondering if it may have been a marine deal. I"ll post some pics when I get my camera working again. Thanx
