Please post any photos you have of tasteful speed lines or scallops on customs.

I need to design some for a freind's 50 Merc that will be in the paint booth next week and I need some inspiration.

    Thanks!

Thanks Root & Mytlo...I pulled a few samples from each of those suggestions. I appreciate the help.

    Any else?

Cleatus - what side trim (if any) is he using? That might help determine how things should flow (and what to look for in my monstrous picture archives [IMG] )

Cleatus. It's none of my business but I think your car would look great in a single color, say a candy or mettalic.
Post some side shots of your car and let the gurus have at it.

Check out the pics of old customs and you'll find that the show stoppin really classy Kustoms were painted all one color or two toned and relied on the tone change of an irridescent pearl to naturally highlight the contours already in the body.

And you have the makings of a really classy Kustom... [IMG]
Please don't cheapen it with superflous stripes and unnecessary graphics.
Just paint what ya got in a shiny pearl and it'll be done.

It's a friend's car. He and the painter just asked that I help them with some samples before they put tape to car.

The owner/friend wants to keep it very subtle and understated.

Here's a mockup of what I'm working on.

Yeah, I know the wheels are too mod for the HAMB (and myself) but the rest of the car is pretty damn cool so far. It has some really interesting/different/tasteful work on it. They plan to have it done in time for Autorama shows this February.

Personally I would do the lines different than shown, but the owner wants them very small/subtle.

Feel free to give input. It will be sprayed tomorrow (Thursday).

I think it looks good, wheels and all. If I was to do any changing, I would enlarge the scallops a little.

Yeah, I would like to see them a little bigger too, but the owner wants them small.

Other parameters set by owner: They must be black and must have a cream pinstripe outline.

    Here's another variation.

I vote for the second variation. The others look stunted on that car.

I like the 3rd variation. It makes the car look longer and thinner, which I think these cars need. Like a long spear side trim does.

I'd rather see a molded in "swoosh" like the '69 Camaro has than just a painted on Swoosh. Keep it honest!

I like the second one, very traditional.
The third one is different enough I kinda like it too.
