I think some would automatically think plastic doesn't look "old timey" enough even though it is totally appropriate for any post-war build. Also my dad made a protective frame for a picture of my mom from aero plexi scraps when he was on a carrier in the Pacific. My brother has it now and it still looks great, hardly yellowed at all.
I'm thinking those people would be more comfortable around the wood spoke wheel bunch more than this crowd!

Here's the only other pics I have of Ken's Hiboy with the clear Plexiglass (Lucite) hood: image from page 63 of Best Hot Rods (Fawcett Book 189)

What about the see-through Pontiac bodies that GM made to show off the metal inner structure. I think around 1939(?).
Thanks for posting this car! I was trying to remember the builder's name. I got to see this car in person at the 2009 Hot Rod Revolution in NorCal, but don't have access to those photos. I found this photo album, with pics of the car, via this page at Kustomrama. It doesn't appear that it still had the plexi hood, but it's there in my (faulty) memory.
"Ask and you get", unlike at home! Thanks. Wonder what it would cost to chrome plate a deuce frame nowadays.
Here’s my acrylic dashboard I made back on the 90’s, cut and laminated the pieces, primed and painted. Used a 60’s era Ford big truck gauge cluster. Have 46 Ford column and drop that I plan to swap in. You can buy what they call pen blanks for turning, going to make my own dash nobs for my coupe. Had an architectural model building class years ago where we did acrylic buildings.
In 61 I was 8 years old. When I saw the Bubble on the Beatnick Bandit I thought Roth was So Kool! Now I see these Posts. That Poncho Wow Just Wow Thanx for these Pages and pics.
