Have an old set of 7001P pistons. Been looking for info on them. Searches turned up two topics so far (an ebay link and a hotrodders.com link). They have conflicting info. One says they are for 327ci and the other says 302. I'm pretty sure the pistons were close if not the same for the 327 & the 302, but I was wondering if anybody had any other info in regards to these with use in a 327. Comp ratios, CC of dome, or any other info would be helpful.

Trying to decide between doing a 302 (I know this has been discussed at length on here) or a 327, depending on the stats. Thanks for any help.

I come up with .030" over 302 pistons with 12.5 domes..... Could you post some pictures please??? Thanks! :)

I'm guessing that if they really are 302 pistons, I'd obviously have to change the rod size due to the stroke of a 327. Hate to assemble and find out the hardway when I rotate it and the top of the piston pops out .250.

Are these pistons machined for floating wrist pins??? How about your connecting rods???

They take floating pins and came with snap ring retainers. Don't have rods yet....parts collecting phase at the moment...

  6. according to my 1983 Speed-Pro catalog....1968-70 302 with 12.5 compression ratio race piston. that's what it says , honest! but of course we all know the CR would depend on the combustion chamber volume.

looking further is see: compression height 1.805 , dome height .450 , cylinder head volume 64CC , effective dome volume 19.3 CC , deck clearance .020 , compressed gasket thickness .020 , piston without pin weight 617 grams

Now all you need is a 3.00" stroke crank... Now who in the aftermarket world makes these small and large journal steel cranks for dirt cheap???? This inquiring mind would love to know.... Thanks! :)

283 cranks are 3" and there are spacers for putting them in large journal blocks if you want to go that route

Last night I snagged a fresh machined (.010R/.010M) forged steel small journal 283 crank off ebay for $105.

Watch ebay, they come up somewhat often, usually reasonable.

Also- I know a guy locally with a cast 283 small journal crank that would sell it for $50-$75. I could give you his contact info via pm if you desire. It would need to be turned though.

The crank will go great with those pistons, my hilborn, and my NOS Isky roller cam set-up with rev-kit. I'm all smiles right now.

    Hi,

I was wondering if you still might have those 7001P 302 Chevy pistons. I’m in need of one. I built a de-stroked 327 with a 283 crank with 7001P pistons for my ‘32 Ford Roadster and one piston is not usable.

    Thank You

Better check to see if those pistons have wrist pin offset to make sure you get one with the offset in the right direction.
