Camping at "the Bend" is that still legal?
I hope so cause that's where my son & I will be.

 

See all you lunkheads there. I`ll be slaving away in Inspection from Thursday 7th through Wednesday 14th, but I`m still bringing my Helmet in case I can make a pass or two and keep my licenses up...oh and my daughter is coming again this year--if you buy a T Shirt from the SCTA trailer it may be her that takes your hard earned cash....

 

My brother is coming along too, he's the real train guy. Works for the light rail here in town and is sleeping in a caboose in Ely on the way up.

 

Cant wait cant wait myself and a few mates will be there from Tuesday on, keep an eye out for a '59 ranch wagon with some New Zealand stuff plastered on it I am sure...

 

It is going to be a great year! The 550 car might not make it due to a backfire at the Test and Tune.

I have not read any updates yet but it sounded like they would not be there. The left panel was blown off the car. Who knows there could be some mad trashing going on in Oregon right now? If they don't make it this year it's all the more reason to go in 2015? I did see the car in person at Jim Humes shop and it is amazing!!!

Had breakfast with Kent Fuller this morning, he will not be attending this year, still pi##ed about the change they had to make to the streamliner to make it conventional. Still need a room!

 

I'll be there all week. First time going. Can anyone give recommendations on where to camp with an RV? Also, if there's anyone out there generous enough to give me my first ride in a REAL hotrod (not a muscle car) it would be greatly appreciated.

The "bend in the road" for camping

 

There's several camp areas toward the mountains at the bend. Not near as noisy as the bend.
There was an area in Wendover across from the CarQuest auto parts store, where the new museum is to be built, no hook ups but pretty nice. I'm pretty sure its still there but fills up fast.

I was there last week for the Test and Tune. The bend really looks weird with no one camped there. The area across from the auto parts store looked about the same.

There is a guy offering up a room on the landracing.com forum in the Speed Week 2014 section. Its at the Montego for the 10th thru the 12th.

 

I'll be there for sure and 99% sure will have the 37 Chevy Ute there again.

 

Calendars are at the printers, should be to me next week
The web site is updated for the first time in two years
New suspension parts for the Ute are in
New (old) motorhome with a REAL bed and bathroom
Salt Circus staying home, too hard to do it all

BTW - If you need a room and want to be at the Nugget, just keep getting in line at the front desk, it works every time!

 

We have not been able to find rooms yet for Sat and Sun, the only two nights we can stay. If we can't get rooms it will be the first time I've missed going in ten years =(
