Check the weather, I just got a couple pictures on an email of the flash floods on the salt with a lot of standing water..

  7. There is zero chance of precipitation for the next few days with highs in the 90's.

  8. Just cancelled my room, couldn't stay until racing starts. Anybody going, there should be plenty of rooms for next week.

Right now we think we will leave here Sunday. It is my understanding that course 3 and 4 are pretty dry right now. 2 has 1 1/2 inch of water and 1 has about 3 inches. The water seems to be going down about 1 1/2 inch a day. About 4 inches of water in the pits. i am hoping for the best.

  10. salt.jpg SCTA just posted this on Facebook:

Salt Report, Friday August 8 2014, 12:00 Noon: Your SCTA volunteer crew has a few people out on the salt today picking up signage and erecting course markers. The Bonneville Salt Flats are still wet, but are showing signs of drying and whit...e salt crystals are starting to reappear. There is a light breeze from the east and bright hot sunshine to assist with drying. The SCTA is still upbeat and we are seeing water levels reduce quite quickly. While the pits are still covered in a couple inches of water, the race courses are showing the greatest amount of improvement, with most spots being in less than an inch of water. The pic attached is a wheel on the Flatfire trailer which shows about 3" of recession since 7pm last night. Looking good! The plan is still to proceed as we stated in last nights Salt Report.

  11. We'll be headed for Bonneville tomorrow afternoon. I can't wait to see some racing on Monday!

  12. Anybody know what the bend in the road looks like?

This was posted a few hours ago:

Camping at "The Bend In The Road": Currently, the traditional " bend in the road" is still damp and drying, however about a half mile north is higher ground and plenty of dry camping area. There arent any more signs of rain and things are drying out nicely. A Salt Report will be following shortly. bend.jpg

From SCTA website (and as noted by others):
Participants will be allowed onto the salt Sunday for pit selection and inspection. We hope to begin racing on Monday Aug 11, based on course conditions.

Participants allowed on Sunday, and spectators(?), or are spectators not allowed onto the salt until Monday?

So now it is 2015. The quoted post was last year. Is Kent still pi##ed off about his streamliner? Will it ever run? Tried the crowdsource website, but no updates since last summer. I threw some bucks in the fund, obviously my choice, as did Ryan per a post of his, guess I figure in my curmdgeonly opinion, Jenna or one of the grandkids ought to close the loop on the project. Would satisfy my curiousity.
