I am looking to buy a speedometer, I am running a 350 chevy trans.

There are several cool speedometers on epay, Mack truck, VW, bus, MGB's so my queation is how would one go about making one of those work with a 350 trans. Other than finding a cable that will adapt with the trans and speedometer, what else would be involved?

Or should I just give it up and look for a "GM only" speedometer?

I was planning on using a VW speedo,
    because it was big,
had a bunch of built in Idiot lights,
    Gas gauge,
    and only cost $5
Found out the internal hex on the drive was stripped. [IMG]
Might get another one, depends on transmission options.

Once you have the cable/speedo head worked out....the rest is a piece of cake.

This explains it very well...much better than I could. It is a simple matter of changing a few gears to get it right....

all speedometers in the US are designed to show 60 MPH at 1000 rpm's of the speedometer cable. so it's not really what make speedometer you use..it's the gearing driving the cable. the info in the previous post will get you started in the right direction
