Hard to tell from your description, but are you thinking of a 1960 Chrysler gauge cluster?

Didn't an early Edsel, 58, have a circular speedometer like that? I don't know about the globe type face?

  5. Maybe it is from an Edsel. I'm looking for something different to put in My 54 Chevy. Anything else?

Model A fords had a similar setup.

  8. '60-'62 Chrysler has a needle that moves, the numbers don't move.

51-52 Pontiacs have a half-circle speedo in a cluster, probably a lot of other cars have that half-circle shape.

Pretty sure some 56-58 Studebakers (not the Hawks, the other models) have a speedo like the Edsel does.

  9. its half round and the numbers are suspended in the middle and turn horizontally

  10. Best post a photo if you have the speedo handy.

Sounds like '58 Edsel. It kind of looks like a large diameter dashboard comp***. There's one in a local wrecking yard I'm going to pull in a few weeks.

I think it was a Studebaker (Commando or president) in 1957/58 that had a speedo in a pod on top of the dash.

Ya 57 & 8 stude presidents have them, the edsels have them, oldsmobile tornadoes have them, one of the citroens have them, and probably some others too. BTW they are called Rotating Drum Speedometers. And they rock.
