Speedway axle tech?

I bought a new "straight" axle for my gasser style car. I have original 49-54 Chevy spindles. They seem to be too tight to fit over the axle boss. I was told to just touch up the axle boss and use the shims that came with the new king pins. Have you guys ran into this?

 

Often found in fabricated axles. No biggie.

 

yes i had this issue. I just shaved them down a bit. Mine was for 49-54 spindles as well.

 

had the same problem recently with a SuperBell axle......

 

Was your Speedway axle real heavy? I got one that was alot heavier than I wanted so I went with chromemoly.

 

Thanks everyone. Im on vacation next week, so I will try and get it squared away. I am ready to get this back on wheels. The exle does feel heavy, but Im good with that. I plan on ripping on the car with a four speed.
