I know about Speedway's current shipping policy but had never ordered anything from them that added up to less than the minimum requirement for free shipping. I needed three items that totaled $30.71 and noticed that shipping was calculated on each item rather than the whole order. I could have put all three in a USPS small flat rate box and shipped them for $10.20. Speedway's price to ship the same three items was over $40.00. Seems a little off to me.

That is odd. I just bought a engine cradle off Amazon, actually coming from Speedway. Was 42 and change, 13.99 delivery. (And tax) but I didn’t even take the time to check Speedway’s site, but I doubt if I bought it through them, shipping won’t have been more.

  3. You bought one item. The OP's point is they charged him separately for each of his 3 items.

I realize that, but 40 bucks to send something that would fit 3 items for around 10/11 bucks, means they are charging him around 13 bucks an item.
Using Alan’s scenario, that would mean my 42 dollar item would cost more to ship than I paid for it, via Speedway. I realize it wouldn’t. Now I gotta got play “what if” when I wake up and have a coffee, just to see if there’s a difference between Speedway’s shipping or buying it via Amazon;)

Speedway sucks! I just bought a 15" version steering wheel for my 50 gmc. They said it would fit oem tilt steering column from 69-93 mine is a 1983 tilt, it wouldn't go on far enough to get the nut started. So I call to get a refund, sure no problem I just need to pay shipping back to them. No more speedway for me.

Make/print a copy of the ad. Tell them you’ll file a small claims suit for false advertising. May not work, but I’d bet you’d get transferred to a person in more authority;)

If items are ordered from other then S-W site, the orders are separate, and they will not combined,
I ordered some Items off FleaBay , all items came in same package/box was charged 5x on shipping,
I called F-Bay , & Told them If I payed individual shipping packages, I want
""5 individual packages"", I was Refunded 4 shipping charges.
Seller used/ provided only 1 shipping tracking when shipped,,

If you ordered on line, and went ahead despite the separate shipping charges, CALL THEM and talk to one of the reps. If you didn't complete the order because of the multiple shipping charges, CALL THEM and place the order, explain what happened, they'll do it right. I've had great customer service from Speedway, never had any issues, even when an error was my fault, they fix it.

    Ordered from Speedway website.

I have Amazon Prime, so I looked the same items up through Amazon. The price per item was more even though I was buying from Amazon, and I still would have had to pay shipping because they were being shipped from Speedway. I spent over 30 minutes on hold with Speedway yesterday and never got to talk to anyone. I've never had a problem like this before. I wound up ordering the same parts from another vendor for about the same price and $30.00 less shipping.

I stopped ordering from Ecklers 10yrs. ago, when they started overcharging for shipping. Used the same envelope
that anyone can use, but they tacked on an extra $20 for s/h. I know there are always associated costs involved,
but fair is fair. When I noted this issue on their website, they deleted my reply as it did not conform to their
guidelines. It was then that I saw that there was not one negative feedback listed for ANY customer.

  18. I've noticed a pattern with most sellers these days. You have to go through the whole checkout process, entering your credit card info, etc, and only right before clicking the final "buy" button is the shipping cost revealed to you.
There have been plenty of times that I've gotten all the way to that final 'click' and have closed the transaction to shop online somewhere else for a better bottom line.

Pick up the phone and call Speedway! I'm betting if you called them they'll straighten things out. But if I saw the separate shipping fees at first, I'd have called them prior to completing the order. Bet they'd have changed it if you talked to them first.

I use Speedway when able as its but an hour drive (5 gal's gas), so really not saving if a parts trip only, but always do the coffee cruise each month so it makes for a conjunction FUNction..

I wonder this too, are all 3 items located at the same warehouse so they can ship them all together? Certainly if they all arrived in the same box the separate shipping would be uncalled for, but I think Speedway does sell stuff in their catalog and online that they don't have on-site, it's just drop shipped from other suppliers.

From a shipper's standpoint, it is tough to figure out how to do combined shipping sometimes. Easy to figure out the weight and dimensions of a single item in a box, but some things don't fit in the same box with each other easily. If I sell multiple items to someone on eBay, generally they have to pay both shipping costs, then I package them up together and refund the difference. To figure out what the combined shipping of any 2 random items might be together, so the buyer can pay at checkout time without my input, would be near impossible.

Karens? What happened, did somebody piss in your cornflakes this morning? Next time you have an issue with a thread, make sure you read the entire thread or at least the posts by the OP. I did call Speedway. Check out post #13.

I do not think to many that have posted
    Have had that many
    Purchases/ dealings with Speedway!!!
I myself & several family members over the years have purchased/ spent amount of $ that it would cost to buy 2 800cid Sunny Mountain motors, since early 80s,
For H-R parts & all of there other race catalogs, there inventory is kind of big!
I have also had drop shipped items from multiple vendors that supplies Speedway, "with out" multiple shipping charges. "IF "order directly from Speedway.
Some of there parts are cheesy
Buyers looking @ most of the time @Price , In stead of quality, or those just donot know cheesy cheap parts / items.
I have Yet to this day called S-W & talked to a Non-English-speaking person!!! Unless things have changed in last few mouths ! ?
I think there was a glitch in system when OP ordered Maybe Not !
( Op stated he ordered from another vender cheaper)
Every Time I have had a issue ,
(afew over the years) S-W took care of & @ times told me to keep part & sent replacement
    or just refunded .
I can only speak for my self & few others , I can be a difficult customer

I take it you're assuming this, or you haven't called Speedway lately? I called just two weeks ago to get an answer about pricing, and shipping, and talked to two different people. Both spoke perfect English, and weren't at some call center overseas.

Okay! I just got off the phone with a very pleasant fellow named Bryce from Speedway. I explained what happened last Tuesday about the multiple shipping costs and the extended wait on hold. He immediately looked up my account and found that I had attempted to order parts. We went back through the order verifying the numbers and I asked him to tell me what the shipping costs should be. He told me that actual shipping for the three items was $10.20 instead of the plus $40.00. He also told me that there had been a problem with their computer system and phones.
Had I been able to get in touch with them at the time I tried to order the parts, this thread would not have happened. I was merely wondering if this had happened to anyone else and I appreciate your responses.
