Anyone have any experience with the cast Fenton headers Speedway is selling? They say they fit but I'd rather hear that from someone who is using them.
I ran the Fenton cast irons back in '62 in a '53 Ford Customline,I also used the ones Speedway calls the "Economy Flathead V-8 header" part# 910-13606 $119.95(liked the sound better) for the savings I would have them AHC coated and add the Flathead exhaust baffles part# 916-15201.Reason I liked the baffles is they isolate the center two cylinders for less heat retention which was one cause of exhaust valve seats cracking in flatheads, worked great running the ISKY #88 grind with it. Really sounded wicked with 22" Smittys
At the time flathead parts were cheaper and I used the matching springs and Johnson adjustable tappets, with stock heads it should clear OK but to be safe always clay them to double check for clearance issues.Mine was bored and stroked to 286 cubes and I ran Edelbrock heads after I took off the stockers.Would I use the original springs after all these years? No way! The ISKY cams are pricey these days and you may want to contact DELTA Cams as they can duplicate almost anything as they have a lot of masters on hand and can offer great quality at more affordable prices( You can always buy a decal) I won't tell!
