I have a speedway straight axle with the 49-54 chevy car spindles. This might be a stupid question but where do the steering stops go. I used search function but nothing came up. Any help would be appricated.
    Thanks

I would guess that they would go on the inside and not the outside .

I was just getting ready to ask the same question. I am running the same axle but with ford spindles. I am using the disc brake brackets that came with the straight axle kit. It looks like they use the brackets for a stop. When turned all the way the bracket hits the axle where the king pin boss is welded on. It still turns to sharp and I guess I will try to make a stop and use one of the bottom threaded holes for adjustability. I am using a Vega steering box with a crossover set-up. I sure hope someone has all ready been thru this, and maybe has a few pictures.

...stock 37 Chevy axle has a stop like this on the rear side...uses kingpin lock bolt.

Thanks for the picture:). Speedway axle does not have the bolt, but it does give me another idea to look at. Thanks again.

What holds the king pin in the axle, a set screw?

If his speedway axle is like mine Then , yes , setscrew. I used an extra long set screw , locknut, then acorn nut to act as a stop , seems to work fine , been that way for 13 years & 35K miles !!

yes typical speedway ....almost a good product. there is no engineered stop ...like "2old 2 fast" idea sounds good to me. Have at it:)

Most (all?) aftermarket tube axles are that way and always have been.
