Just got jerked around at Speedway motors Ordered a Ford 9” center section. Was informed some parts on back order. 2 weeks out customer support was giving me vague answers on timeframe.3 weeks out was told parts were in and unit should be ready within the week.Day 27 was informed unit done and ready to ship. PayPal account was charged. No tracking number provided.Day 29 called customer support.Lady told me parts on back order until mid October. This is July 20th. Canceled order and bought one from Quick Performance Ames Iowa for $150 cheaper with a posi unit comparable to Eaton true track. Upgrade from speedway trac loc unit. So why did speedway tell me parts were in and then a week later tell me unit was ready to ship? Only to find out they never received parts. I normally don’t whine about stuff, just roll with the punches. But I live in the snow belt and our driving season is very short. Sucks to have my car layed up for over a month Also I’ve been a speedway customer for 25+ years Only had one issue before and it was cleared up right away.I have uploaded some of the emails I received to verify my claim. I will probably use speedway as a last resort from now on. Plenty of other vendors will take my money
Another Speedway rant. With this being your 4 th post since 2021. They ship thousands of orders every week. You have people reading what is on the screen in front of them. Shipments of everything is screwed up due to this time we are in. They are relying on what is being told to them by their company they get their parts from. Quick Performance stocks many-many parts and supports drag racing events. Plus, you are getting a better product for a cheaper price. Seems Speedway did a favor for you.
Stan is right, Speedway did you a favor. Quick Performance specializes in 9" rears and is small enough that the owners are involved in day to day activities. They are not a big company where the left hand doesnt know what the right hand is doing. Plus, my son as well as another HAMBer work there.
yep, every experience different. no matter who you order from, have them verify that parts are in stock at warehouse where customer service works. if you look online at a part it will say in stock. this does not mean part is in the US. can be in stock in manufacturers warehouse.
I will say it before and I will say it again, Speedway’s business is 50/50 Hot Rod to oval track but it is only the hot rod guys who complain about Speedway having bad service, and poor quality. It sure seems to me it should both sides having issues not just one! The Speedway gets the vast majority of my mail order business, and the only time the part I needed was in the height of Covid. I ordered a tubing notcher, it was not in stock and they had no time line on when they would be getting any in. The person who took my order wanted to know if I wanted to put one on order so I did. About a week latter I found out AllStar had the in stock and ordered one. I had completely forgotten about the one on order with Speedway, about two months latter I got a call from Speedway, they were letting me know they had gotten the tubing notcher I order back in stock and wanted to know if I still wanted it. I had all ready given them the go ahead they could have just billed my and sent it but they called and checked first.
They all start small & grow the business & sadly a few fade away or get consumed by bigger guys, at the least I'll say Speedway is still in the family, the most we can do is let them know when they stumble & give them the opportunity to make amends..
I got axles, posi and new gears for the 8.5 10 bolt that is in my chevy from Quick performance. Hands down a great company to deal with. I will definately recommend and use again.
My old shop was prototyping some ford chassis parts, the joke around the shop was if and when Speedway copied em.
