Big show at Speedway and the Museum Of Speed this weekend. Lot's of off topic cars. 90 miles away, I think I'll pass.

Even if OT cars are not your bag, a trip through the Museum is well worth a trip. Lots of trad stuff to see / learn.

If it was only 90 miles away, I would go but it is way further than that.

I have been there twice. 1520 miles one way. Would go again!

I'm thinking that Krylon32 has been known to make regular parts runs to the Speedway store but it is the actual show that he is passing on. There is a big annual show about 65 miles from me every year that I entered a time or two back years ago but sitting in a hot paved parking lot with no shade among actual new Rental Mustangs that were rented for the weekend just for some local business people involved in putting it on just doesn't spin my wheels. Personally I'd rather drive 150 miles to the little town that looks like the setting for a 50's movie that blocks off a couple of blocks of main street for the day and draws 120 cars with 50 of them being cool stuff I have never seen at any event before.

I believe it's the Wheel Hub promotion that is slated for Fiday/Saturday this Memorial weekend at the Speedway Motors Campus further details available on the Speedway web site.

Wheel hub live is a great show, the high end magazine cars are actually displayed indoors and out side is an enormous showing of everything else. I believe @BigJoeArt went last year and they had creeping near a thousand cars parked outdoors on the property.

If you can’t find a bunch of what you like out of a thousand cars you should probably just stay home.

Jeesh guys, now we don't even like car shows?

I'll be there, and there is usually a fair number of traditional cars there.

and honestly its worth going even if you didn't want to look at anything outside.

I know I'm just an old krumugen but I just went to the museum a month ago and with my fucked up knee facing surgery soon I guess I'm just not in the mood. I'm crazy to pass up a show 90 miles but still hoping to make it to the LARS. Just talked to a good friend and I think we'll go to Columbus NE. and support the Midwest Street Rods at their annual Memorial Day Rod Run.

I think I may head down this weekend. Haven't been to the Wheel Hub meet yet, think I'll bring my oldest son along.

  14. I had a reservation but cancelled because of other memorial Day obligations. I'm sure I will be missing out on good stuff.

Won't be there either, I've a bad knee as well & I refuse to let it get me down, it's the clown that totaled my 32 that will keep me home this year.

The rain forecast looked rather ominous, but it looks as if things are much better for all in attendance today.

Yesterday I talked myself into going Saturday. Took Howard to the car wash, Filled him with gas, loaded my Travel Scoot and was ready. Didn't happen, woke up this morning with my right leg about a 3rd bigger than normal. Gotta get this dam knee replaced.

  20. I feel your pain, literally. Having bad knee joints REALLY kills any walking around for any amount of time. I just graduated to hyaluronic injections in an attempt to put off the surgery for awhile. Sucks! Meanwhile my 40 just sits. Thinking about one of those fold up scooters for the trunk. Is the Travel Scoot good?

We in due time rely on the modern world of electronics & the willingness of members who catch some snap shots or videos to walk us through the process, we should be thankful for all their efforts.

I saw a few photographers that I knew, so I'm sure there will be pictures surface, but I was so busy talking to people I didn't take photos of much, other than a couple new additions in the museum.

lots of neat cars, and some really nice traditional rods, (a hemi powered model A coupe parked next to me)

I was pleasantly surprised when I got home, the speedway Instagram page had shared a photo of me driving in.

It was a fun day, and I talked to friends from 5 different states.

    Go hot rod.

My last museum visit I was pleasantly surprised to see an expanded area devoted to many of the rare engines that were formally in a glass walled inaccessible room.

I was there last Monday for the 4th time, still haven't seen all of it. The new Unser section is great. They are doing major renovations upstairs. I love the place, would go tomorrow again if I could.

I believe the knee surgery today is much less invasive than 6 years ago, but it depends on the severity of the injury, my concern is they say a certain degree of memory is lost with each time a patient is put under.....in my case I can't afford to lose much more.....I'll hobble on for now !

I would LOVE to someday see the Speedway Museum, but it's half way across the country, and as I get older the chances are getting slimmer.
Over the years, I've sold Speedy Bill half a dozen of my pedal cars, and last year I donated (mainly for tax purposes) my 500+ piece Japan Tin Toy vehicle collection to the museum's foundation. Would kind of like to see my old toys again.;)

    They made it nearly
Double the size recently. I can honestly say if
You flew into Lincoln and spent two or three days doing nothing but going threw the museum and then went home you’d think it was 100% worth it.

Amen. I'm in central PA. and have been there at least 4 times. Never gets old. My wife restricted me to 2 hours this time as we had to get on the road to be somewhere by a certain time. We hit 7 car museums on this 3 week journey, she's pretty forgiving.

Oh man two hours isn’t even long enough for the shock to wear off
