I took the tour today and it far exceeded my expectations. It's gearhead heaven. I only wished I could have a whole day to wander around with Speedy Bill himself and look at everything. Well worth the $10 admission. If you find yourself near Lincoln, NE on a weekday... get yer ass to Speedway a couple minutes before 2pm and check it out!
X3!!! Took the tour a year or so ago & it is an amazing collection of seriously cool stuff. The tour was suposed to take a couple of hours but 3 hours + later it felt like we had just run through room after room never getting enough time to really explore & just soak up the atmosphere like you really want to. Guess I'll have to get myself back over there! Here's some pics I took when I was there
buy $20 in parts and get in FREE, kinda like buying for half price which sure is precious giving the money to Bill!! and you can use the parts too!! buy that day, and show your receipt to get in whata concept
Saw it about 10 years ago before he super-sized it. It was awesome then, has to be beyond awesome now.
Nice to see some stuff about our local hero, Speedy Bill, what a cool guy he is. I was at an auction today and he was out there in the trenches buying more goodies for his projects, museum, restorations, race cars, you name it, he is workin on it. As happens to most successful people I hear folks take shots at him sometimes, crying off shore parts, etc., but Speedy only does what it takes to make the sport workable. Bill and Joyce Smith and family will always be big heros in my eyes. Viva Speedway Motors of Lincoln Nebraska!! And if you get the chance, visit this incredible motor sports palace. ~Sololobo~
Bill Smith's Collection at Speedway Motors is definitely wort a trip to Lincoln, Nebraska. I've been there twice and each time I've seen something new.
A never can be duplicated shrine to the Gods of speed. Took the tour on our way to Speedweek '08, a gearhead religious experience right up there with sunrise from impound in my book. Great tour guide host and very helpful crew at the parts counter over at the store. Looking forward to a return. Ed Purinton
This is not something to do one time folks. I have been there several times, you need to go back every two years to catch up on the new stuff. The Smithsonian is good, the Smith is way better!
Was there about two years ago and could not believe my eyes! More extremely rare items, many one of a kind, and all restored and displayed in an amazing array of unparalleled quality and variety.........definitely a MUST SEE for any auto enthusiast. Absolutely world class in every respect! Ray
