Hey everyone has anyone ever run this Kit #916-49060 From speed way? Looks like a decent enough kit for my 28 Tudor. Just wondering if anyone has ever run it or has any feed back on it?

When are hot Rodders going to learn to stay away from Speedway and their "Chinese ****ola" and start doing business with reputable dealers and parts made in the U.S.A.I only use Speedway if there is no other alternative!

It's hard to find parts made in the USA anymore. Just because they say they are isn't always true anymore.

I think you are painting Speedway with too broad of a brush. Yes, they do sell some items that are offshore but they also sell some very good products at reasonable prices. They didn't get to be "America's Oldest Speed Shop" by being stupid or shady. I have bought a ton of stuff from them for probably over 30 years, and in that time I only had one item fail us. The reason they carry some cheaper products is because we, the consumer, won't pay for Champagne with our beer budgets.

Moreover, any time I needed them to do something for me they stepped up to the plate and did it with no questions asked. If you don't want to buy from them, fine, but don't think that the rest of us, who do like Speedway, need a lesson. If every company did business like Speedway it would be a much better country.

So no one has used it? We have used Speedway parts in racing for over 20 years. Only reason I'm looking. I can get the kit for $300.00 only reason I am looking at it. The Carrera shocks are 282.00 alone. So just asking, if it's no good I will just be doing Nascar truck arms. Not all Chinese parts are bad either I mean most aftermarket stuff doesn't work as described I don't care where it's built. It takes a days worth of machining to get a crank to turn in a new Brodix block. The price is right so if a hairpin design on the rear works then I may give it a shot.

Its just a radius rod, panhard rod, coil over setup. Under countless cars.

But wasnt it a steering box pitman arm? Kinda a critical piece.

But with that said, I've bought from them too, many times. Price always being the reason.

Seems to me that style of wishbone and axle mount puts the bars up pretty high and would get into the floor area, especially on a sedan. If the price is that good; maybe use the coil overs and mounts and fab your own P&J style ladder bars and mounts and use the clevises, heims, panhard bar, etc from Speedy's kit.

If those brackets dont work for you, I make ones that sit lower and my Plasmacam table works cheap,,,, like a $2 ******.

The problem is that too many people want to shop by price alone, so they sell some of that cheap ****, just like many companies do. That doesn't make them a bad place to do business, just buy the better parts they also sell. They have an excellent reputation because of their customer service and they earned that reputation over the long haul, taking care of their customers when they do have problems.

I wasn't the biggest fan of the brackets either. But we will see if I can get it bought. Then figure on the fab work. Still need to get the body off the ch***is so I can begin frame work.

Yep, it was a steering arm that snapped in half, but the moment I called them they pulled all their inventory off the shelf and didn't sell any more of them. In fact, they didn't have an arm to sell for about a year, until they found a suitable, forged replacement. A lot of companies would have dragged their feet, but they jumped right on it and made sure no more went out.

Hell, even the big three automakers have recalls for failed parts, it is how a company reacts to fix the problem that counts.

Don is right on the money! Speedway is a cl*** act. And there tech people do build and drive hotrods. Just like most parts, you can buy economy, middle of the road, or top of the line offerings from one place.

I totally agree with this and said it many times.

However, on the flip side (devils advocate) IIRC, it was a CAST arm and the point of many guys on China made parts in the fact that it was made cheaply and unsafe, putting lives in danger. Its one thing to have a chinese part where the holes are maybe drilled a hair off, another to have parts that are critical fail.

They pulled the parts, Im sure, to avoid lawsuits. When the big 3 have a part to recall, they have to do a cost ****ysts on if the cost of potential lawsuits outweigh the cost of recalling ** number of cars to replace them. For Speedway, I'm sure that choice was easy, as I highly doubt they sold a million of those arms. It wasn't an ethics decision, it was a quick reaction to a pending financial disaster.

With all that said, I still have a catalog from them in my "reading room" and use them for parts..

If your going to carry ****ty parts you better have good customer service

, I do buy something's from speedway, but if you have physically held a pete&jakes hairpin in your hand and a speedway one you will get an idea of the quality differance

I've known a few vendors for speedway in the past ... Been selling them their product for YEARs all of the sudden orders stopped and THEIR design now still appears in the catalog with a made in china sticker... A company with GREAT ethics... Yeah sure... The root problem of no middle cl*** anymore.. Right there!

I know it has all been said before, but you get just what you pay for. I would opt for one from Pete and Jakes over the Speedway unit

I found out last week that Speedway now is collecting sales tax (approx. 9%) for sales shipped here to Washington State. Cost of their parts just went up 9%. Not buying from them

Why? They are just following the law.

Yeah... the order I received last week had $62 worth of tax added... first time for that. I'll still order from them, but will include the added expense when I'm evaluating the true cost.

I have used it. Works good. I just bought a chrome one for my next car.

  24. I used to be able to follow the Street Rodders around and buy the good stuff off of them when they would buy independent suspensions **** for their cars.

Well now the trend is for the traditional stuff and I'm finding it easier and cheaper to buy from places like Speedway... don't like it... but my car is a hobby and my family and house take precedence!

A lot of tax loopholes are being closed and pretty soon we will have to pay taxes from a lot of vendors we never had to pay before. The law was always that, if a company had a branch office in your State they had to charge tax, even though the item shipped from another State. But, as the Government starts looking for new sources of revenue, we are going to see this happening more and more.

Not something Speedway wants, it is a burden for them too, but they have to comply. Even at swap meets, like Turkey Run, the vendors are now charging sales tax.

Used Speedway for a lot of stuff on my build. Why? Have it is stock, ship same day, arrived half way across the country in 2 days. Decent prices and I do not remember anything arriving that did not say "Made in USA". Why Not?
Some stuff they did not have and it took longer, cost more and well just not worth the effort to track down.

I was strongly considering the same kit with the matching front axle kit. The catalog price is $534.00, how do you get it for $300?

Now that Don has clarified the tax situation, let's steer clear of politics.

Most states are requiring internet and mail in orders to pay the state taxes. It is not that the vendors want to, but by law they are now required to collect taxes on the purchases
