We don't live far apart. I can't recall the last time I saw a Vega in a local salvage yard.

Are you referring to Pitman arm nut? I am just about to change a original style 29 Model A to Cross Steering , all Speedway parts including box, complete package not cheap with sorry *** CDN dollar and Shipping to ***hole of the Planet . Got my doubts now after reading this....probably throw it in 5 Gallons of Thread Locker to Keep it Together ...

NO, he's referring to the same nut as mentioned earlier in this thread: 'The BIG nut, used to jam the main cone at the final bearing end of the worm. Bad end if this comes off and the cone loosens, even falls.
No steering. But...maybe it doesn't happen to everyone.

And there are a plethora of junkyards in my area I can choose from....well, not in the last 30 years. I'll continue as a pansy and buy what I need. Unless you can tell me a decent manual steering box I can get out of pick and pull yard, I have seen some 90's vehicles, can you help?

The bolts backed out of the top plate,I found it because on a road test when the car went in to a terrible shake in the steering wheel.

Hey Birdman, I'm in Iowa too and would love to know where the yards with all the Vega boxes are.

If not, maybe a good parts store with some stick on flames.

Sure, seeing a Vega hasn't been made in 44 years, I'm sure all the boneyards by you are b******* over with them. I also always trust someone who blocks people from seeing their profile and their field of expertise and tenure on earth.
