Hello all, I am new to the board. My question is, has any one bought a front end kit from speedway motors. I am looking at thier I beam and brake kits for my 29 A sedan, but I have not heard or read anything good or bad about there kits. How did it go with the kit, did you have to do any modifications? Or, is it just an all around good kit? Let me know good or bad.

Thanks in advance to any one that replies.

how about an intro? on the intro page.
I personally have had good luck with Speedway, If you have questions about the kit or its completeness, ask them!

I do reccomend calling and and asking. Ask for a Hot Rod Tech. They should be able to tell you everything you need to know...it is thier full-time job...and once you get it they will help too...they are trained well and trained to make the customer happy too!

It helps to compare quality of the parts group, between good vendors. We've had poor quality batwing mounts fail, for example. Look closely! Ask around to hear other's experience.

one word of advice on the SW set up, dont buy the flat steering arms , and all that goes with them.
And another word of advice, check into some of the HAMB vendors on here and have them price out what you want too.
Im not bashing SW, or giving them any leg up..just dont blindly go at them only. Is all im saying
If you question what i've said here feel free to PM me

I don't trust their shackles or perches and I HATE the rod ends on the hairpins.

If you have to have new parts try pete and jakes or So-Cal. Pete and Jakes gives an alliance discount.

Listen to Dreddybear..A LOT of there stuff is from China and trust me on this one..THAT***** DONT fit worth a damn..!!! I dealt with Speedway for a LONG time until the quality of there products took a nose dive.!! I starting calling Pete and Jakes and other shops to buy the items I needed.Yeah there more money, but along came the PIECE of mind knowing its the RIGHT PART..!! There tech*****s..I have had more arguments with them on items listed and had to have them correct several things in there catalog that really made no sense.Sure they will tell its a GREAT item..How and the hell do you think they make money..??!?!? Stick with alliance dealers or call Kennys Rod and Custom shop in Newton Fall ,Ohio....GREAT people to work with.

I have one on my 29 coupe, it came with it as i bought someone elses project. i didnt think the po set it up right so i called speedway about it and there customer support helped me through setting it up properly. they were on the phone with me for probably 1-1/2 hrs total between 3-4 calls. i thought there service was great because at that time i personally had not purchased anything from them yet everything that i had of theirs was bought by the po.but my car is nowhere near ready for the road so i can't say anything about their quailty yet on how the stuff holds up goin down the road.

I would be suprised if Pete and Jakes stuff didn't come from China too. Its all about profits now, no loyality in where its made, just were they can make the most profit, and sell the product at the cheapest price.
I have a Speedway front end under my 29, and have had no problems as of yet.

Go hunting for the real stuff, piece it together, you'll learn alot along the way too. Real Ford stuff Is the only way to go. stronger, looks better and like I said you'll learn a thing or two. Probably alot cheaper ad well

I've had real good luck with Speedway stuff. BUT, I've never bought front end stuff and am not sure I would. Better to piece it together as 510Madmav said. Better stuff

the speedway kit will work fine, i've used them in the past

speedway kit uses a superbell axle, superbell is owned by pete and jakes
kenny's rod and customs sells cheap parts much like speedway does

there are much better front end set-ups, they cost more, personally i'd spend the extra $40 and get the so-cal axle over a superbell

Thanks guys for all the in-put. This is exactly what I was looking for. I know about all the campanys, I am just looking for personal experiences and opinions. The one on the car was tagged pretty hard and the frame has a huge sway and rise in the rail to it. So I am looking to build my own frame but need parts to set it up.

Try Lucky 7 suspension parts find a dealer, I thing their are a few people on here that carry it good priceing excellent service I,m using their stuff Joe

  16. Chassis Engineering has front end stuff for your model A,as that's where I got mine. I had such a hard time finding a forged axle as many companies only had cast axles.
CE has complete front ends or you can buy stuff individually.

Any ball joints that come from speedway with a kit I find to be cheap. Everytng else was ok, I just would replace everytng with American parts, I just replaced all the tie rod and drag link ends with moog parts, I've had a cheap ball joint fail so now I don't use anytng but good tie rods and ball joints on anything

I put a Speedway front end under a customers car. It's the Superbell drop axle with reverse eye spring and split wishbones. It went together fine, no problems. All the parts look decent for what they are. I gotta say it's a hell of a lot better looking than any round-tube axle with hairpins or quarter elliptical setup I've seen. This was the first time I've****embled a a front end from "new" parts. For my own stuff I prefer original Henry parts, but have used the Speedway perches, shackles, and wishbone bungs in the past with no problems.

I have done a lot of business with Speedway and almost always found their stuff to be good value. Hell lots of their stuff is from brand name outfits. Roadster Shop etc. They made their bones selling race car parts. If it will work on a sprint car it's strong enough for street rods is my thinking. And they almost always have stuff in stock. They keep inreasing what they own and control AFCO & TP for instance.

I'm****embling a SW polished front end****embly right now and the quality is outstanding. Some of the parts are identical to the other companies mentioned. Many parts are forged and of the highest quality and the welds on the stainless are SUPERB.The shocks are made in Georgia for example and are great. I bought the best heims and they and the clevis' are exactly the same as a big name race car supplier so, I don't really see what all the noise is about poor quality

  21. I know this thread is a few months old, but i had a speedway perch snap on my model a on the ride home from work tonight. chinese junk i****ume. need to find quality replacements.
