Looks almost European. Art Deco era maybe? Are the mounting studs SAE or metric thread?

    I would guess Ford .

with the way it mounts I would guess emblem amd not a wheel spinner

Obviously attached to the main Wheel cover or cap with the studs. I’m thinking aftermarket. Large V8 powered cars would put their emblem in the covers or caps.

It is aftermarket. For a 53 Ford bullet. Just a guess, really.

  12. Damn Mark (@Moriarity), these guys are tough! Next time use a dollar to show scale instead of a 20 spot (lol)!
By the way, this would look great as a spinner center on a hubcap if that's not what it was made for. E

I have no idea so I'm really just guessing but I'd bet this was made to bolt over the top of a 32-35 Ford wire wheel center cap. I know there were a few designs like that, including one that was just the "ears" of a spinner that would bolt onto each side of the cap for a knockoff look. Just a guess though.

I'd use them like that if I had 4, but this is the first time I've seen even one.

I’m thinking aftermarket. The V8 is slightly different from Ford’s version.

    Seems like it is brass

  18. There was one that was similar in appearance but it was made from cast aluminum, it fit the early bent spoke Kelsey Hayes and Ford wire wheels. HRP

What Hotrodprimer posted above is what I was thinking, but instead of a complete snap-on cap, you just drill 3 holes in your old cap and bolt that on over the top. Could be wrong, does look similar though.

I've got an old J C Whitney catalog at home, either 1958 or 1960 I think, I'll look in there later. They had everything the aftermarket could make.

Well maybe it could be off of one of Henry’s Tri-Motors planes. Regardless, someone could make up a few of those I’d think without too much difficulty. I’d buy a set.

Gotta love that...it would made a good casting project. The origin would probably come out of the woodwork after you'd start selling them.

Is the HAMB stumped? I can't see with the hollow back that it would be used as a wheel spinner. You'd carry around mud and crud everywhere.Stylistically, it looks 30's mid 50's. Maybe a trunk emblem. Could we get a clue off the length of the studs? It's probably a Dodge after all. :)
