  1. kool maybe I should ship you my chute pack body it needs some glass work on it!!!!
    and I hate glass work.........

  2. You know this stuff doesn't even really stink? And I have yet to get itchy.

  3. Them boys from SD are known to lie :D . . . just ask me how I know (my whole family is from the Black Hills!).

you will when you start sanding and trimming ;)

  6. My old man messes with the fiberglass. Said the best thing to relieve the itchy is a lint roller, the sticky tape kind. Just roll it all over you and it pulls the offending itchy right out.

  7. This is the only glass part on the car. Tom Burkland told me that he has never seen a steel or al car burn up. I go back a re-read the emails we have exchanged quite often

Trent, I'm curious as to how you decided on the nose 'cone' shape? The sides all appear flat, and I would expect a cone, or bullet shape- of course, I know didly about aero though!

Is this a design you liked, copied of off another car, was suggested to you, or.....?

    The build is looking good!

  9. Thanks Buddy!

I took the block of foam and carved off uneeded parts and this is what was hiding in it!:D

Actually it started with some other shapes I saw running on the salt, Jack Costellas cars and others. The shape just kind of progressed. The sides of the car is very flat, frontal is 20 wide by 32" tall at ride height.

  10. Cleaned up a bit. Two or three layers to lay up still. The beeswax worked really well, this thing will pop off nicely.

For as you say, not doing this before looks like it came out really good, now I understand how you were going about it, so will you shoot a coat of gel coat on it ,or just use it as is, to save any extra weight. Tim jones

  13. Thanks, the shop is actually pretty light with 14 sockets! Fuckk Al Gore. You sent me those axles didn't you? Double thanks!

It will get a couple more coats of glass and then skimmed with Evercoat filler. No gel needed.

  14. Looks fast just sittin' there.

  15. Thanks Tim, you know how it feels visualizing in the shop!
    BTW, No itchys yet.

Just sitting here drinkin a "Stone" and this project popped into my mind. Hows the going?

  17. Trent Buddy might have an engine for u..................

  18. If you would answer yer phone you would know!~ Wanna go to Speedweek with me?

I can make it fit, the car is modular to allow this!;)

Looks the same since last pic. I am laminating the nose, I am in between 3 and 4 layers with at least two more to go. This stuff does not build up real fast DOH!

Tom also sent a intake/header flange and some parts so we can get working on the rear of the frame. House/work/cold are slowing me down a bit but got several nights into it this week.

Tman, Wish you the best of luck in your build. When will this one be ready to race/get inspected ?

  20. We hope to have the rolling chassisthere but my main focus is helping Tim with the #416 Unibody

  21. You're so sweet! I'll help you when it's time too. :D

  22. More layers. does not look like much. Also the NASCAR roof flaps that will become "dive" brakes. Stukas and Dauntless' have nothing on us!

  23. Keep glassing away Trent! I've done a lot of glass work - is a long and very tedious job to say the least!

Itch, itch, itch, scratch, scratch, scratch . . . cuss, cuss, cuss

  24. Aren't the dive brakes mounted the other way? On airplanes they push up into the air flow not open into as to "scoop" the air. It's a "fence".

  25. My cold is going away enough that I smelled the resin last night. Sometimes being stuffed up is a good thing!

I have had a couple chats with Tom Burkland about how to do the brakes. I do not know which way I will face them. Hinge at front will require air or hyd. actuation. Hinge at rear will work like they do on roundy rounders. Tom was worried about the shock loads but I think by buffering the retention cables we can control the opening. This method would use a simple release cable.

    Who needs brakes?

  27. I do!

I forgot to post a shot of that really fine header flange Tom. I will get that one up when the extra special package shows up in a few days ;)

  28. OK, glass is a pain in the ass. I think I could have hammered this nose out with half the effort in steel! But it is looking sexy.

  29. Yep, the glass experiment was fun but steel or Al would have been easier!

We have a nose and the plug survived enough to fix and pull another splash.
