    It involves cutting and welding:D

  3. Too much change will put us into XXO instead of XO, thats where the aftermarket heads run.

I know, that's why I need to sit down with the rulebook. I'm looking at doing most of the work on the exhaust side of the combustion chambers. The outside of the head would be unchanged.

Probably want to run any questions about head mods past the vintage engine committee if you haven't already.

T-bag: We're cheering you on man! Let me know what I can do to help. You know how I loves me a six shooter...

  8. Thanks Scotty, we may need a good wrench that has been to the salt before.........know anyone;)

  9. Hey TMAN - good stuff, looks like you have the 'Salt Bug'!

We're working like mad on the FlatCad --- always too much to do, too little time and never enough money, but we're humping. Lets make sure we hook up when you're out there this summer - hopefully we'll be running, learning and getting some speed into us.

  10. Definately watching you guys, your team partly inspired us to do this one. Been thinking about a car since 02 and decided if I/we don't just do it that it would never happen.

How was the ham and eggs? Was it full of inspiration? Did you throw some v-8 shit in the back of Tom's truck so he could make it home? lol

I dont need any more stinking paper weights. SBC's are a fad - they will never catch on.

  15. Funny how the flatheads and inliners now outnumber my smallblocks by one here at the ranch

No pictures until I gat something that looks any different than the first ones:eek:

Yep, I'm from Colorado! Down here, we know the difference between a blog, and a build thread!

Now, if were are done with the verbal sparring, pics please!:D

BTW, I love the idea, and the engine choice. I really can't wait to see this one progress.Good luck with the build!

  24. Hey, I see some freindly competition!:) I used up a ton of real estate with our Stovebolt bellhousing and tranny tonight!

  25. OK, got the shop cleaned up. Wood furnace "kinda" installed, chimney is too short! Smoked us outta the house on Sunday! DOH!

Here are pics of our Quickchange, Frankland Champ size. Pinion support is blown out, which is normal. Some minor corrosion from sitting outside for years but I am amazed, it is all serviceable! Got the large 4.86 ring and pinion, not so cool but we can work with it outta the gate.

I need to know what kind of differential this thing is? Eaton? Detroit locker?

    Haha!

Well, when you finish the lakester, you have a start on a rock crawler!

    How's the nose piece coming?

  30. The locker will work onthe salt, lets the axles run independant. Nose plug is ready, found a glass guy that we will talk to this week. Jamie, the welding instructor from HRI is going to fix the pinion support this week. All is well
