  1. what is the deal with the ultra chopped ulta channled cars and trucks. I was at a sho lat night and the guy had a "truck" in there that the closed drive shaft was running at about elboe level while you were sitting in the seat mounted to the floor and that was only about 3 inches off the ground.

I just don't get it. they are not comfortable. they seem like they don't ride real well....what is the appeal?

If I wanted to ride that low I would street lugue (sp)

if big is good, huge is better
if low is good, pancaked is better
if chopped is good, mailslots are better
all good ideas, can, and probably will be, taken to the extreme...

  5. It's because Detroit didn't do it the way the owner wanted.

You wouldn't want everybody to have the exact same car, would ya?;)

I think these are called Cartoon cars. At first I thought it meant that they looked like the art in the old CarToons comix, now I think the owners must be built like the Tasmanian Devil or Yosemite Sam. There is NO WAY to look cool getting in or out of one of those things. But, I'd pay good bread to watch some long legged Betty unfold herself from one.

Maybe there's a huge influx of vertically challenged rodders out there that no one is noticing. I think Von Dutch built a car like this once . . . . oh wait, no that's not right at all

I would guess it to be like how some people get into extreme *** fetishes. They just need more and more to keep them happy then eventually they will accidently kill their partner who is into ****** asfictiation (choking) and be tried for manslaughter, but a home made ****o film will provide the shoking evidence to clear the accused, until it happens again one month later with the first victims sister. Then later they discover a huge insurance policy taken out on both girls by none other then....
well you will have to wait to see the stunning conclusion of:

We built a 41 Ford pu that way, it was comfortable to ride in, was a pain in the *** to get in and out of. I plan on building another one one day and it will be because I like them that way.
Of course I am told that I will build some strange stuff and drive anything.

  15. Shhhh ... what goes around, comes around. Remember the jacked up cars of the 70s/80s? Well, the Brit's are already getting ready to start the next trend.

Aw REJ I thought you were referring to the previous post. I thought you meant you built your 41 with your pecker in your hand. Sorry for the misunderstanding man

Some people thought I built it that way! First time out it was "What did you do that for?"

i think ive heard this about 9 million times to many, it usaly followed up with something like 'thats not how they did it back in the day! less maybe it was a bonneville car' of course that would be spouted by some 20 year old who thinks he knows everything.

maybe building later(36 up trucks like this is a new thing, or since everything already ben done before its just more popular then before.

if you do some actual reading, find some books youll see cars chopped and channeld to death back in the 50s/60s just as much as you see them now. its not a new thing by far. unless a "new thing" is like 50 years old in which case i have no idea what your driving when you say its "old school" but i imagine its got a horse in front of it.

Its the X games/ generation fault, everything has to be extreme to get noticed. or its all the mini-truckin, lowered VW and compact guys swapping over and in those worlds, lower it better. plus getting into this field takes money and they can start with ****ty bodys, some 2x3 tubing and throw some **** together to come up with something that seems to draw a crowd........

And drawing a crowd certainly doesn't make it right, especially when they all walk away smirking, mumbling about **** welds and shaking their heads.
