I have this set of Rochesters that have 5/16 splined throttle shafts, anybody recognize where the shafts came from? 001.JPG 002.JPG 003.JPG
The splined shafts are slightly larger than the stock throttle shaft, the throttleplate screws are quite fast and likely break if I try to unscrew them, I'd like to see how the shaft is made, is it a single machined shaft or a 2pc ***embly? It uses linkage arms from Enderle or AlkyDigger on the splined shafts, all 3 carburetors are fitted with them.
    Anybody seen these before?

  2. I have 2, N.O.S. splined shafts. I got them from a carburetor guy quite a while ago.

Really, do you remember where they came from? Are they 1pc shafts? so you'd have to enlarge the bore on one end and have a threaded end on the left side for the original throttle plate and throttle linkage attachment?
You wouldn't have a photo of one?
They just interest me, a big improvement over the pinch type.

Hilborn run 5/16” shafts. I wonder how the bore spacing compares.

I would guess it's for a governor, but I don't know. This throttle body has a mounting flange for the gov housing that yours does not have.

Interesting, but the splined part of the shaft shaft is larger and stepped down inside the base plate, the throttle linkage end has to be threaded so the shaft would go in from the RH side, the throttle base counter-bored to accept the two shaft sizes and the shaft would extend thru the LH side where the throttle linkage plate bolted/screwed to the shaft.

True that, the splined stuff is straight from mechanical injection, but the throttle shaft itself is .3025 at where the throttleblades attach and the splined part, as it emerges from the base plate, is .3095, it changes size inside the base plate.

I think I purchased shafts from Larry Fulton in Great Falls Mt. Looked up his ad in an old magazine which listed 406-453-5395 as the phone number but that was a long time ago. Automotion Rochester Carburetor Service

Yup, you guys nailed it, that looks like the source from the photo's, I didn't call, I gather they are no longer available, there was a note attached that they were selling off the inventory and the price on the kits was $0.00, I gathered they were out of stock and no longer available.

The back side of the throttle plate screws, in your 3rd pic. Doesn't look like they've been peened or staked. They may be loc***ed. Try heating them up some.

Do you have any of the linkage arms. Do they have a matching internal spline ? I wouldn't be surprised if that's actually straight knurling rather than splines. Just curious.

I have the ability to make shafts and blades for these. I basically remachine everything, done it a few times for a few close friends since I'm already doing the same for the Hilborn stuff. I just bought serration broaches to tackle 3/8 and 7/16 shaft sizes.
